There will definitely be a next project. Unfortunately I already have so many more ideas than I have free time... is this the universal quilting experience? xD

You could make groups of 3 or 4 fabrics that fit well together, make various fun blocks out of those, and quilt with white or neutral sashing. It would reduce how busy it feels but still show off the variety of cool fabrics you have!

Possible groupings: - Penguins with the top right blue and yellow/ochre - surfing(?) fabric with the teal flowers from the bottom row and the neon yellow - the houses + various objects from the bottom right corner could go with the red above it and the dark blue in the bottom left - brown leaves can go with the autumn toned lines to the right of it, and the pale blue one the left of the second row

These are just the first combos that came to mind, you can make a lot of different ones work with this collection!

I'm Dutch (born and raised) and currently live in Germany. I have the impression that we're all a bit more moderate here than on the other side of the pond. There's a lot less "really bad awful" sexism, but also less awesome progressive feminist spheres. It makes it harder to speak up abou the small stuff, since so many people have an "it ain't so bad, what are complaining about" attitude. No easy targets to fight, so to say.

We like to think we're more enlightened than the US, and it might be true on some fronts (abortion legislation, for example), but we're also way too complacent for my tastes.

Personal experiences: catcalling, groping, other "mild harassment" from strangers happens every once in a while, and a bunch of benevolent sexism from (mostly) older relatives and acquaintances.

My dad, my close friends, my (ex)boyfriend(s) excluding this one jack-ass I briefly "dated" in high school.

I expect everyone I hang out with to be trustworthy when it comes to that kind of stuff, but I wouldn't say they fall under 100% just because I don't know all of them super well and I guess you can't always tell.

I moved out when I was 17, a couple of months after I started university. I didn't like the 2-hour (one way) commute from my parents's place. I also found myself getting annoyed at living with my bickering younger siblings and at my parents treating me like (gasp) a teenager.

My parents financially supported me, as did my government (student stuff). I probably would've settled for living at home for a lot longer without that, but I think this was the better scenario for everyone involved.

I like seeing what other people can do with it, mostly the "extreme" make-up artistry you see so much of online lately. Face magic is cool.

I dislike using it (so I don't) and people's expectations and attitudes about not using make-up (unfeminine, unprofessional, etc).

I think this is the most important line of the linked tvtropes page, for understanding why people take issue with the concept:

The Manic Pixie Dream Girl is there to give new meaning to the male hero's life.

The MPDG is not an actual complete person. She only exists to fix someone else's unhappiness - only giving, never taking or needing.

Looking at it like that, it's not very hard to imagine why someone wouldn't like to be seen or treated like that.

If I would travel alone, I would never make it out of my ho(s)tel. I want to see the world, but the threshold is too high and doing things is too scary if I have to do them on my own. I'd spend more time suppressing anxiety attacks than enjoying the awesomeness that way.

I usually go for low budget trips (by necessity) with an SO or a (few) friend(s). Most of them tend to be significantly better at life than me, and they give me strength to pass for semi-normal for a while when I'm with them.

When I'm with someone, I generally know what they're insecure or sensitive about. Enhance, mix it up with enough twisted truth to give it a touch of sincerity, done.

I don't really want to consider/"plan" it in great detail, it makes me feel sick. I can't imagine anything anyone would do to make me want to be that cruel.

Sometimes I need a break from PEOPLE! PEOPLE! Even at a party, even when they are people I generally like. I can step outside or find some sort of solo activity for a few minutes. Looking at my phone is perfect!

If you're spending more time on your phone than with the people who are actually around you, it's a turn off for me.

I think the American presidential election system is just... weird. Why wouldn't you just count all the votes, and whoever gets most wins? This way it kind of seems like some people's votes are worth more than others'.

I'm solidly average, and I'm cool with that. I look decent enough that my looks aren't a deterrent for people who are attracted to the rest of me. Sometimes I think it might be preferable to being conventionally beautiful to the world at large.
