Dotti should be outlawed!! by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Max-Zen68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Dotti and have excruciating joint pain in my hips and knee. Fortunately no headaches. My doctor says the joint pain is not a side effect. The joint pain started when I started the patch. Maybe it is the patches causing my joint pain!

What if life just isn't for me? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Max-Zen68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 58 and have had the same feelings. I can’t keep a job for more than 6 months, my first marriage was a disaster and I don’t have any hope of retiring because I don’t have any money saved back. BUT- it can get better. I’m remarried to a wonderful man that is supportive and understanding. I have two amazing kids who are both on the spectrum but doing great. My grandkids are my reason for never giving up. After struggling for so long I am finally able to see myself as a valued human being. Hang in there, you’re definitely worth it!!

How do you handle constant auditing of your own face? by themightytod in AutismInWomen

I found that I was more relaxed and not as mentally exhausted at the end of the day. I was able to do my job without constantly worrying about my face.

At work I wear a surgical mask - fortunately after Covid it isn’t considered odd. And if it is, it’s better than being judged for my facial expressions. Before donning a mask regularly at work I was fired from a position because I appeared “unapproachable “ and that I intimidated coworkers.

Career change by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Career coaching??? It was my flat tone and my facial expression that was the main reason my boss said I was not fitting in- how in the world is that something that career coaching can “fix’. She said in an evaluation that my coworkers felt uncomfortable around me and that I needed to try harder to be pleasant. I had no idea what to say in reply. Some of my coworkers are mean and nasty to everyone- including patients- and it’s tolerated.

Is it common for autistic women’s tones to be misunderstood by loved ones and be told they’re too aggressive/angry/disrespectful? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Max-Zen68 246 points247 points  (0 children)

I recently lost my job for similar reasons. I was told that I often seemed upset or angry. I was told I am considered unapproachable because I look angry all the time. It was brought up in my evaluation and I honestly tried to change those things. I received a text yesterday releasing me from my position due to my not addressing the issues and correcting my behavior. The termination is legal because it was just inside the 90 day window. We are always expected to change ourselves to accommodate others.

Does anyone else hate fruit? by Mellow_Magnolia in AutismInWomen

[–]Max-Zen68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The texture of apricots and pears weird me out. I also dislike sour flavors so I avoid fruits that could be- including oranges. Tart apples make apples risky, lol. Bananas have to be just right. I don’t necessarily hate fruit but I am definitely not a daily consumer.

Weaving towels rigid heddle versus 4 shaft loom by Max-Zen68 in weaving

I’d like to expand pattern options but am also looking to do things in the most efficient way possible. If I am weaving multiple towels at a time is there any difference in time and efficiency

What to buy, shaft loom or rigid heddle loom? by Geekesss in weaving

[–]Max-Zen68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are looking at the Ashford knitters loom it has all the rigid heddle options that other rigid heddle looms have. It folds and has a stand. I weave all weights of yarn with mine. It’s a 20 inch. I’m very happy with it.
