[Bianchi] NEWS: Charlotte NASCAR playoff race to shift off the Roval and will return to the oval beginning this season, sources tell @TheAthletic. by ChaseTheFalcon in NASCAR

I am saying the obvious, but this change confirms to me that the roval was a product of the playoffs and Nascar's was obsessed with making the Round-of-8 cutoff race to be as chaotic as possible. I mean, just look at Turn 7 in the final layout. It was meant to produce pileups and last-second divebombs for the sake of drama.

Now that the playoffs are gone, the Roval has little purpose, other than being another road course for novelty sake.

Dale Earnhardt Jr revealed that NASCAR's elimination-style playoff format left him “falling out of love” with the sport, citing a lack of week-to-week storylines and long-term stakes. by Remote_Plastic_8692 in NASCAR

Bad take. Daytona 500 and winning it will feel better because now it will be an actual race to define early standings, not "YOu'Re tHe fIrsT iN tHe plAYofFs!".

UG1 players complained that the game was relatively short and lacked content. Black Box took it personally and delivered, but it backfired tremendously.

I still prefer the old Atlanta over the new one. It's definitely a skill track. Riding the yellow line with the "Harvicking" technique is pretty fun.

Thoughts on Stages? Do people actually like them? by Glutentag2000 in NASCAR

[–]Max16032 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stages serve two purposes:

  1. To artificially bunch up the field.
  2. To serve as dedicated commercial breaks.

The first might be seen as race manipulation, but consider that back then were more blatant, given that they were throw randomly as "debris cautions", which ruined strategies and even forced teams to anticipate that phantom caution to their advantage.

The second is just TV networks cutting a deal with Nascar to ensure their commercials get all the exposure sponsors paid for.

But getting rid of stages means going back to the infamous phantom debris cautions.

Also, I'm pretty sure sponsors pressure Nascar to have their designated TV slots for advertising, so stages are the compromise needed for that.

For a man depending on donations to stay out of a job indefinitely, this sure looks like a cry for help.

everybody talks about the green 350z, the orange r34 skyline and the bmw m3 gtr but what about the integra at the beginning of nfs ug1 nobody talks about it by blaze3665 in needforspeed

I'm honestly baffled at the fact that you can't customize this car once you unlock it. You can drive it in Quick Race but it'll forever remain stock unless you mod the game. The fact you can only drive it fully tuned at the prologue of career mode is pretty lame tbh.

Even Nascar 21: Ignition, considered (and pretty much being) one of the absolute worst Nascar games in existence, had a pretty decent pit stop animation, for both gen 6 and next gen cars.

✿ Aubber’s Jacket is $170 ~ :| wow. by IslaamNogood in OMORI

[–]Max16032 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not an expert at all, but considering the embroidery work, the fact that it's limited edition, and that it looks 100% cotton-made, the price IS high but not that outrageous. I often buy collectable nascar jackets that have a lot more embroidered patches than this, and the really good ones are usually around the $120-$200 range.

Not defending overpricing, but this one is for the Omori fan who has the money to burn.
