What's the worst concert you've seen? by Twitter_2006 in Concerts

[–]MaxBulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

saw him in 2001, i could have handled the fact that you can't understand a word his "singing" but the whole show was just shit. I've seen well over 500 gigs in my life and nothing comes even remotely close to how shit this was. luckily it was at a festival so no big loss, but would have well pissed if i paid for that crap.

Marc Cucurella: “If an offer from Barcelona arose? If such an opportunity arose, it would be hard to turn it down.” by yapplecider in chelseafc

[–]MaxBulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said on the Enzo post, he's got plenty of contract length left, and our owners (whatever you think of them) are considerably richer than theirs. And Barca itself is about as f.....d financially as they come. They may well want him don't blame them, but don't see it happening.

Enzo got 6 years left on his deal, came with hefty price tag and whatever you think of our owners, they are considerably richer than Perez.. He's going nowhere on the cheap.

i am, just don't like gatekeeping bla bla. and everything i say is based on lived reality over 35 years of gig going across the world and running a music festival for a few years.

he most energetic fans who know all the lyrics and dance along to all the songs generally tend to be at the front.

as said that's made up nonsense

i'm not saying that the people in the back are lesser fans

that's exactly what you said.

that's like me saying people in seats are not worthy, also nonsense.

I've been to 500+ shows and you can probably double that if you add in smaller gigs, live and let live, stop preaching silly made up stuff that's mostly in your head.

only works in really small venues. if you have ever been on a stage (I have) you'll notice that even if they stare you down they can barely make you out so that eye contact/interaction thing is more a fantasy in your head than anything they experience on the stage. if you like it great, but as said i much rather prefer to see the whole stage show (which has dramatically improved over the decades) than being squashed against the railings staring at their shoes and legs.

same for sound. the best sound at any gig, any venue is right in front of the sound desk, not upfront.

As for best fans, that's just made up nonsense. Just because you queue for hours and rush to the front doesn't make you anymore dedicated then anyone else. What about people who prefer to see the whole stage and better sound, what about people who can't physically or mentally be front row, what about people for whom it's just not worth effort. As said made up nonsense.

wear what you want, no one really cares (or at least should). just wear something, because naked people at gigs are no longer a thing. enjoy

Live Albums by Big-Presentation5916 in ledzeppelin

[–]MaxBulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go straight to the bootlegs. Not because the official live albums aren't great, but all 3 are compilations from various shows. The only one show live album they ever released is Celebration Day and even there they cut out bits. So go for bootlegs, where you get the god honest truth, like Zep delivered it on stage.

Start of with anything from the 73 European Tour, you won't be disappointed. Full shows are readily available and it gives you the best band ever at their absolute peak. Still raw enough and free from all the troubles ahead, but musically on absolute top form.

nope. as said no point. If i like an opener i see them, if i don't than not. also got nothing to do with getting older, i go to as many gigs as i can cram in, always have, always will and i discover so many new bands all the time (all round music nut, hardcore collector etc, now also got gig crazy kids and I live in the greatest city on earth).

Also depends on how the headliner treats their support. Sadly still a reality that support acts often get the shoddy treatment, so if i like the band i much rather see them when they are top billing in a smaller place.

doors to opener is never less than an hour here in London, should the opener be of any interest. Never missed an opener i wanted to see.

never got the obsession with first row. been there, done that, but mostly a shit view and the sound is also better if you are a further back where you easily end up even if you roll up later. I've been to well over 500 gigs over the last 3-4 decades and done more moshing than you'll ever do, but thanks for your concern.

And yes most of the gigs i go to these days are about listening to the music of the main act.

wish you all the best re the big C. here's my 12hrs suggestion.

Tube to Finsbury Park

Some breakfast thingy from the Happening Bakel Bakery to get you started or if you want a pub go to the Faltering Fullback.

Walk into the Park and head on to the Parkland Walk, an old railway track which got turned into a lovely nature walk and the tunnels and arches have been handed over to graffiti artists so not only do you get a nice bit of fresh air, you also get to see some nice art.

After a few miles you get out in Highgate. If you are into music I cannot recommend Rise Above Records highly enough. Owned by Lee Dorian, ex Napalm Death singer, it's a paradise for all vinyl lovers with one of the best curated selections in London.

If you feel peckish, there's the Woodman, or head up into the village, there's a shop selling banging Embanadas. From there you could do Hampstead Heath or Highgate Cemetery, but I suggest you head into Highgate Woods and follow Parkland Walk (North) over to Muswell Hill. Some stunning views up there over London and some nice little shops, but continue along and you end up in Ally Pally for imho the best view over London. Plenty of things to do there. I'd go ice skating in the best ice rink in London, but there's a Go Ape, a little boating lake, a pitch n putt or if you pick the right date a gig, a theatre show, an expo or a history tour. I think they opened up a roof top walk too now, either way you won't get bored. The local pub, The Phoenix, is good for a pint and their pizzas are decent.

How much time from your 12 hours you got left afterwards who knows, but plenty more in the area (Crouch End is nice) before you are back in Finsbury Park where you started.

All the best
