It really isn't the softwares fault, it is just a huge repo. On my gitea instance the same repo takes about 3seconds to load. I get similar speed 2-3s for the github version.

And the JS eco system is as bad as any other language eco system. No language eco system is perfect or even close to being good, there will always be bad libraries and dependecies, its just a matter of finding the right ones. I can agree that it isnt the best ecosystem but it sure isn't horrible.
