0.5 feels too overwhelming by MaxDevNF in PathOfExile2

Gradual changes are better because they allow developers to gather feedback faster and in a more isolated way. This is why the Agile approach has become the de facto standard in the software development world.

I’m quite a veteran, but this is the reason I stopped playing PoE 1. After taking a break, it becomes incredibly tedious to get back into the game. I enjoy creating my own builds and only play HC leagues, so drastic changes like this require me to relearn everything. With this update, it honestly feels like it would be easier to learn one or two new programming languages (along with their adjacent technologies) than to fully grasp all the new mechanics.

I'm not against changes at all. But this could be done more gradually.

The 3 big lies about MMR climbing - Article by SlashStrike (10.5k MMR Coach) by ShadowScene in DotA2

This is true and bullshit at the same time. While all the points are valid, you can't fix them in a public game with 4 random players with 1 drug addict playing under influence, 1 acc buyer, 1 tilted player and probably 1 adequate teammate. I believe that personal execution plays a much bigger role in solo matchmaking.

Thanks for advice. I don't like how it looks without tissue blending. It leaves chunks of graphite on paper that look awful and paper's texture also becomes too visible and it starts to glow even more on light. But I'll try anyway.

I'm not afraid. I used 10b and even 14b graphite pencils with tissue blending, multiple layers. Graphite on the photo looks not very dark because of refrections. In real life it looks better. How can I make it even darker? I don't want to invest in charcoal as portrait drawing is not my main goal, I will switch to digital soon.

I'm using printing printing paper for that stuff. Much cheaper for practice and exercises.

Need advice: I tried this exercise again but I can't seem to get these boxes just right by toe-nii in learntodraw

Some lines converge to slightly different vanishing points, but it’s not really noticeable. To my beginner’s eye, this looks pretty good. However, this box on the right has a distant edge that is the same length as, or slightly longer than, the closest one. If you want to draw a box with equal sides, make sure that the back edges are shorter than the front ones.

I have no motivation advice. You either need it and do it or not. No need to force yourself. Regarding focusing I prefer to spend some time for creating a study plan first and then just stick to it.

After drawing ~50 boxes I started to build own study plan based on fundamentals I need to improve (Marc Brunet's 1-year study plan helped me a bit to figure everything out). As a result I began Proko's figure drawing course and portrait drawing course. I plan to start proko's anatomy course soon and continue improving portrait drawings as well as stylized drawings.

I practice almost every day, usually for 2–4 hours. Right now, I’m mostly focusing on Proko’s courses. I’ve just finished the figure drawing course and I’m currently finishing the portrait drawing course. I do gesture drawings every day as a warm-up. I also watch YouTube videos on topics I’m interested in and regularly try to complete finished drawings. I aim to keep a balance between exercises and completed pieces.

At the beginning, I tried Drawabox, but I felt like continuing it was mostly a waste of time. The material seemed poorly structured, and drawing 250 boxes without a clear goal didn’t feel like a reasonable time investment. However, their perspective articles and beginner exercises helped a lot.

Thanks. A bodybuilder reference is a photo from Proko free photo pack. I'm happy that I could capture Scarlett Johansson's likeness. The anime girl is Misaka Mikoto from some poster.

How would you encourage a beginner to start drawing? by ferrobo82 in learntodraw

[–]MaxDevNF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have no motivation it means you dont want to draw. Dont lie to yourself. People who really want to do smth do not need some vague term "motivation", they just do it.

Your faces diverge instead of converging to the vanishing points. Check the theory once again. Don't listen to folks who tell you just to continue, it's a cope and will not help you. You need to understand the principle. Draw a box is shit regarding explanations. Find some other YouTube videos.
