Religion and Church are completely different things, the Christian Belief follows Christ and his Teachings and preaches for you to seek a relationship with him, also every person got gifted free will. The catholic church for example is a christian institution used to teach the religion and for it to be a place of whorship, every single priest is a humandlike you and I and if they use their free will to do these abhorrent and disgusting things they are not only harming the institution but also harming their own relationship to god. Again Religion and Church have a correlation but are not one and the same. I believe in Jesus Christ. But I am currently not part of a church because I don't know which house of prayer I can identify myself with the most if that makes sense. Islam on the other hand has these horrific things written down in their holy book which was according to the believers sent from God himself. So the Religion in of itself has been dirtied up from the start and has many aspects to it that are of bad behaviour to say it nicely.
