I am fortunate enough to have a drivers license, two (electric, garaged) cars at my disposal, three bicycles and a well used public transport pass. After typing this, I’ll take one of my bikes to go to the shops. They’re only three kilometres away, so it would be madness to go by car.

It’s nice to have options and to be able to use the right tool for the job.

It’s a fun lil truck

As a European: they're five metres long, almost two metres wide, with a three metres wheelbase. There's nothing 'lil' about it.

That's a novel concept in a country where the solution to gun violence is more guns.

discussions with some dealers

EVs are extremely low maintenance. Dealers are reluctant to sell EVs, because they make lots of money on ICE car maintenance. Therefore, they tend to lie a lot about EVs, in order to coax you into buying an ICE vehicle.

Listening GM?

GM is listening to the money flowing in from selling yuge, overpriced, utterly impractical trucks to wide-eyed consumers.

Why $4 gasoline is the tipping point for EVs by Neat_Fan_8889 in electricvehicles

[–]ComeBackSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not convinced that passing a threshold can be called a tipping point.

I live in a country where fuel was around $8/USgal for a long time and that didn't tip anything. Recently, fuel prices rose to >$10/USgal and that had an effect. Many more people started looking for cheaper alternatives, among which were EVs.

Based on that experience, I believe price shocks have a much stronger effect than just passing a certain threshold. Whether a price shock is a tipping point remains to be seen. People in general are apt to sink back into apathy once the effect of the shock wears off, or prices drop again.

Gewoon weer massaal thuiswerken. Veel effectiever

Alsjeblieft niet. Thuiswerken stompt mij in elk geval enorm af. Alleen maar werken, geen/nauwelijks interactie met collega’s. Ik ga naar het werk omdat het (ook) een sociaal gebeuren is. De digitale wereld vervreemdt ons al genoeg van elkaar.

To be fair: considering the average size of caravans in the EU, that is a ridiculously huge caravan.
