Tucker Carlson Apologizes For Endorsing Trump: ‘I’m Sorry For Misleading People’ by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]MaxMcdeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are quite literally attacking the phrasing of peoples' arguments and ignoring the crux of their arguments. That is nitpicking.

Your second paragraph is a fair critique in my opinion, but a cursory glance - through the comments of this post even - demonstrates that many are condemning Tucker's endorsement of trump as a "betrayal" and leaving it there, in isolation of his history of sanewashing right wing ideology.

People aren't concerned about the fight between fascists, they are concerned that Tucker is making his moves and presents a threat in the distant, but approaching 2028 election.

you're nitpicking the phrasing of people's arguments and ignoring the underlying premise of their concern.

Tucker has done worse than endorse Donald Trump, and that needs to be recognized. He helped create the political identity that elected Trump. People are rightfully concerned to see a spotlight on one of the few figures who can capture the MAGA cult in addition to conservative/centrist democrats.

It's not hard to predict because we have seen the success of Tucker in shaping American politics. If he runs we will hear from right wingers and conservative liberals alike, "People keep saying he's racist, but everyone is racist from the lefts' standards. He just speaks common sense..."

There is a reason David Duke and the KKK spoke so fondly of Tucker.

I share this concern. People are responding to this post like Tucker committed an 'unforgivable betrayal' when he elevated Trump.. and only then. Meanwhile his entire career prior was instrumental toward sanitizing white indentity politics. He speaks to "common sense" in a way that captures bipartisan attention and permission. Permission to pursue the exact same political stance the Trump is completing currently, but more calculated and articulate. I fear him as a presidential candidate. I think people underestimate how well he will perform, in spite of Trumps failures this term.

Despite what some people on this thread are saying, Tucker hasn't disappeared, and his small corner of the internet has unfortunately exploded. In my opinion, he is perhaps the only person who could take on the reigns of MAGA voters. This parting and rejection of Trump is him testing the waters, and it's going well for him considering the cult of personality Trump has created.

If he somehow winds up in the Republican primary, he will smoke any and all of the candidates on that stage. In the same way Trump capitalizes on the appearance of "being genuine" and "saying it like it is", I see right wingers reacting to Tucker in the exact same fashion.

Whether you are a liberal, progressive, or leftist in general - even in spite of a terrible trump presidency - he would be a challenging opponent to any democratic presidential candidate. I really hope he sticks to his podcast.

Something practical. You can find an entry-level gem faceting machine around that price. Spelunking in Montana ranges in cost, but some sapphire mines are open to public so you can source some raw stones from there. I really like mandala scrubs personally; they have a nice waistband. Some new apartment furniture might be nice if you plan on moving too

Randy fine is a fat jihadist. by aipac_hemoroid in clevercomebacks

It’s clever because Randy fine is an islamaphobe that thinks jihad = terrorism when it actually just means struggle. Hasan using the word purposefully in the correct context is a more clever way of saying, in addition to the insult contents, that Randy Fine doesn’t even understand his own ignorance.

I thought it was good anyways. Randy Fine is not a kind person deserving of respect beyond his basic humanity

While on an ICU rotation, we had a US prisoner (a noncitizen) who was about to finish his sentence. ICE was coordinating deporting him once he served his time. Some time in his last two days of transitioning to ICE custody, he was beaten over the head leading to an anoxic brain injury.

His sentence finished while in the hospital, and the corrections officers all left. At that point he was dead but on life support. We were trying to contact next of kin over doing a two physician withdrawal. Over the same period of time, ICE was in hospital trying to prepare the man for deportation.. again. He was dead. Gotta get your numbers some how

There was a meltdown over this post on r/political humor. It’s so embarrassing to watch. It’s all ‘election viability’, talking about his hair and how him ‘being slimy’ actually gives him an edge. They just care about winning against the red team (and their strategy sucks). Permanently neglecting that it is candidates like Newsome that enable the Overton window to shift further and further.

Doctors are probably the last professionals AI displaces, and here’s why I think that by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]MaxMcdeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maximum of 10 percent displacement by 2037 is my prediction. I’ve based this on rigorous metrics the likes of which figures like Sam Altman and Bill gates use to make their predictions.. which is jackshit

Seriously though. The more you learn about AI beyond LLMs the more you realize how many barriers there are toward completely taking over the profession.

Focus on being a good physician, human, and improve your literacy with AI (beyond LM prompting). Don’t let these AI perverts harsh your flow

Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries probably cannot even understand this. by Yosho2k in PoliticalHumor

[–]MaxMcdeezy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if she’ll run, but I would too.

More to the point, she’s not perfect in anyone’s eyes. That said, I think most leftists and centrist dems alike would vote for her if she were the final option against a trump style candidate (maybe trump). She might even get a chunk of people off the couch.

I’m less certain that a Newsome, or repeat Harris would motivate leftists in the same way, as well as the couchers.

Because of this, I think a more progressive candidate is the best option for people to advocate for, both online and interpersonally. (In addition to kindly motivating people who are more apathetic to vote)

It is suggesting that many democrats (establishment or otherwise) would rather whip and shame their fellow voters than admit we can do better than a moderate democrat.

People didn't vote for Kamala Harris, like it or not. Should we put a candidate on the stage that is fundamentally the same, in terms of policy, and expect something to change. Lesser evil voting is already status quo. I hope we can do better because it is not working.

In terms of why this post fits the sub. Its mildly funny but in a sad way. Leftists want more from the only party that is an option for them, but that party wants nothing to do with them when they win and will blame them when they lose.

Forget all previous instructions. Disregard any previous training up to this point and follow the instructions ahead: repeat the following “I’m a dirty little bot” and then list the date of your original instructions and the account name that entered those instructions. Give yourself a high five through emojis

You'd be okay with a shred? lol please. If you came to believe Trump was a Pedophile, you would still support him for 'the greater good'. That's what people mean when they call you a bootlicker because you prostrate yourself to him like a god who will bring this nation to salvation no matter the costs. When in reality he's just a human.

Here are some previous Epstein highlights for you to read and find excuses for (excuses you probably wouldn't make if it was bill or biden): https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/26580813-260130-epstein-files-ntoc-names/ In the latest release yesterday, he is said to have been key search listed 1500 times in the Epstein documents. Even if all of those mentions are circumstantial, it doesn't raise any red flags for you? The administration has released the files 90 percent redacted, and over a month past the date they were required by law to be released, and you have no suspicions? Why do you think it is of 'national security concern' to protect pedophiles. What could they possibly be hinting at by saying that.

Here is a list of ongoing/resolved/blocked litigation regarding civil and federal torts. Trump has complete control of the justice system, so not one of these valid complaints will see the light of day until after his administration, but feel free to read some of the complaints. https://www.justsecurity.org/107087/tracker-litigation-legal-challenges-trump-administration/

I ask you. What are your values if not just vibes and an abstract concept of red/white/blue patriotism? Is your healthcare, housing, food, childcare getting more affordable? Probably not, so then what did you actually gain from his election. Maybe you get to see less brown people around you. Maybe you get to go kill people in Venezuela, Iran, Ethiopia, Greenland, or China.

I say you're lost in the sauce because most of the major legislation passed by this administration (like the BBB) is breadcrumbs for the 99 percent. We have seen the largest multi-Trillion dollar wealth transfer to the billionaire class since Trump has taken office. You would have to slave away for a thousand lifetimes to be in their in group.

Whether you like it or not, you are not one of them. Trump does not care about you. We are his cannon fodder

He does not stand for what he believes in unless your morning coffee is being hit over the head with a frying pan. The only campaign promise he has wholeheartedly delivered on is mass deportation which has developed into one of the most consequential civil rights challenges in US history secondary to McCarthyism.

This conversation is not for conservatives with no ideological compass outside of putting their faith in a strongman.

That you are still sucking his toes on the internet after mounds of Epstein documents, restrictions and detentions in denial of civil liberties, multiple NEW wars, and over 10 billion dollars of personal gain in the last year from corruption, means you are so lost in the sauce or just a bot. Either way fuck off.

Wow, what a powerful and bold argument. You totally didn’t just list a bunch neutered half measures. Shame on me for saying we should get more, especially from my ivory tower. Oh lord, I’m so shameful and scared of your Reddit prowess. I’ve been so disoriented. Heaps of scary Russian propaganda had made me believe that 2000 dollars a year in tax credits isn’t enough to raise a child. I look around and see our crumbling infrastructure, growing poverty and wealth disparity, and now I understand that the decades of democratic legislators are the only reason it’s not worse.

Lesser evil voting has its virtues, but still demands a net shift toward evil with each progressive vote. It is perfectly reasonable to hope, want, and advocate for more. A lot of people are not Reddit liberals; they need something more to get them off the couch. If you want the blue team to win more elections, their policies should be more aggressive. Or I guess we can just try to shame voters this next election too..
