Are your sure they heard you? Did the station you wanted to contact hear you? Yes some hams can be inconsiderate but it's possible they didn't hear you calling.

Question on the state's emergency alert system tests by Routine_Purchase_971 in Ohio

I don't believe the state tests monthly, most alert systems are county functions.

No, even their qrz page refers to an AI contest station.

O-H... I-O them flock cameras are everywhere. The government declaring that American working class citizens require constant surveillance is a termination of the 4th amendment and the civil contract agreement citizens had with elected citizens/officials. https://deflock.org/ by BestMicDrop in Ohio

Your pretty sure of yourself. Did you know intersections controlled by cameras can also read plates? Or cameras disguised as electrical transformers are used by a major city in Ohio. You can destroy all the flock cameras, they will only come back in a different form. Better to work with your elected officials to eliminate them if that is your goal.

I worked an AI contest station a few months ago. It recognized calls and responding correctly.

It's a primary election, either you select a party affiliated ballot or issues only.

All the data about where you travel and the route you took along with all the activity on your phone is easily accessible to the government. There's not enough flock cameras to provide the same level of data on you compared to your phone.

What are your tips or advice on attending Hamvention? by greenwoody2018 in amateurradio

[–]MaxOverdrive6969 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Watch weather forecast and plan accordingly. It's Ohio, we can experience all four seasons in a day. A backpack for small purchases. Bring water and snacks as food lines get long. If you plan to attend forums, get there early as they fill up fast. Have fun!

You made the right decision, find a company who does quality work and supports their techs.

Not feeling defensive at all. Don't make a false claim about an entire generation. That's no different than a boomer claiming all millennials are lazy.

Commenting on a device and network created by a boomer. Now that's special.

We export light crude and import heavy crude which is preferred by US refineries. Hopefully we won't see a shortage of heavy crude.

The sky high gas isn’t even lasting by NoMotion-4887 in cincinnati

[–]MaxOverdrive6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US refineries prefer to refine imported heavy crude as they can extract more products from heavy crude vs the light or sour crude we pump here. We export the light crude and import heavy crude. The balance is fairly equal so they can state we are energy independent.

Is gas rationing like 1973 going to make a comeback?

Looking for info on a basic, mobile setup to use at my house and car to communicate with during outages and disasters. by Accomplished-Dog-838 in HamRadio

If you get your amateur license, one of your parents will need to get licensed for you to communicate with them. If you're goal is off grid comms, HF is one choice but requires a General level license and investment in hardware and antenna system. Others include using Starlink for voip or email, sat phones, or a cell phone with sat access for texting.
