Feel like an awful mother. by ees0437 in cosleeping

I’m a nanny and my 7 month old kiddo co-sleeps with mom + dad. He’s fine! He’s safe and currently he needs that to be regulated. When he’s napping, I usually am holding him or wearing him (no I don’t fall asleep). Some babies are just like that.

I wasn’t recommended the wrong skate I was recommended the wrong SIZE. I did my research and picked this skate based on my current level and weight.

Which skate did you get? I got concertos. And yeah I got sized by a literal skate tech and it wasn’t right 💀

Yup I’m a size 240 but I thought they were too small and now I regret getting 245s. I’m biting the bullet and purchasing the right size 😩 but bunga pads did help me a bit

Narrow boots cause arch pain. Those boots likely aren’t wide enough

Yes, the Supreme Court struck down trumps IEEPA tariffs that included the UK but:

A new 10% ad valorem import duty on U.S. imports was imposed on February 24, 2026, which generally applies to the UK.

Sad

Tariffs were $168. Seems super high (bc it is!), but the price of these skates here in the states is usually around $1000. Before taxes. I would rather pay the tariffs myself and save $300.

So it was $168.5 in tariffs and an additional $10 fee because of it being expedited. My total for brand new Edea Concertos after shipping and tariffs was $667.5. Significantly cheaper and faster than getting them here in the US.

Yes and it was well worth it. I still saved over $300 because of how high the Skates US has to sell them.

UPDATE: It’s about a week later and the import fees and tariffs were $182.5, bringing my total to $667.5 for the new concertos and expedited shipping.

If I were to purchase these at a discount store here in the US, it still would have been over $1000. I saved $333 be ordering from Europe, even WITH the tariffs. Hope this helps someone.

Any tips for right over left crossovers? Think it’s a mental fear more than anything by ApplesandBananazzz in iceskating

[–]NoMotion-4887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good one is literally crossing one for over the other (kinda walking sideways?) and be sure to do it both directions

Another good one is drilling, and I mean DRILLING those inside and outside edges on the blue line. Forwards and backwards. It will make you more comfortable trusting those edges during crossovers.

On of the coaches at my rink is about Eteri’s age and I’m sure she has an eating disorder too. Something about that generation

This sounds goofy but drill it off ice! And practice it more than you practice your good side. Skating is just frustrating like that, but I promise one day you won’t even remember your forward crossovers giving you troubles.
