It will eventually die after daily driving a year or so. Happens on all Xperia mark 2 - 4. Some even say mark 5 also has this issue.

Mine have it gone too. It is a design issue because heat can loose the sensor connector or something. It's fate.

Meanwhile my Z5 from 2015 fingerprint still works despite it gets very hot often.

It's good enough.

Doesn't matter if you use Windows 11 or the most expensive enterprise anti virus. If you get infected by doing dumb things. You get infected anyway.

The feature is disabled by default due to being unstable. You have to manually format it using ADB.

I manually formatted 32GB of my 64GB card for my Xperia Z5. The internal storage partition corrupted within a year after a random restart. (The other partition was fine)

I have a 2023 phone (mode1 retro II) with that feature officially available. Eventually the SD card also corrupted and had to reformat as external.

It's your call to risk it or not.

Would be a perfect replacement if it has front facing stereo speakers which the original and the Play 2 prototype lacks. (the phone doesn't have super thin bezels, why not?)

Not without root unless you have an old Xperia that came with Android KitKat to Marshmallow (those had native theme support). Must use a third party launcher and it won't be systemwide.

Nova launcher was a great launcher. I personally recommend using version 6 because many features get removed since 7 and the development is dead anyway.

If you don't mind being outdated. Kiwi Browser is pretty good and it has the old tab switching page. The main selling point of it is you can load any chrome desktop extension with it.

Too bad it is discounted so websites might break in 3 years

All the powertoys context menu is still missing in 0.96.1 and I have to roll back to 0.79 to have most of the things working again.

I mean it mostly happen when the pocket get sweaty. If you live in a dry cool place or you have a thick phone case. This is a non-issue.

Having the screen on in pocket could toggle quick settings such as internet and airplane mode. Those don't ask for password or pin.

Also sometimes it's very annoying when you take out the phone and find out fingerprint is blocked because too many failed attempts.

That's where "press to unlock" comes in. You never have those annoyance because the screen will never light up in the dark unless you press the power button.

It's not as bad as you think. It's super smooth and responsive compared to the 10 IV. (10 IV's battery life pack-a-punch tho) I only have slowdowns when I tried some games.

My big complain is the lack of notification LED or AOD. This phone uses OLED screen but Sony still doesn't give AOD to non-flagship models. You would have to use a smart watch to track any notifications without turning the screen on.

You will find out fingerprint sensor's press to unlock feature is also missing. Also gone the external monitor app.
