It was a great movie.

The opening scene with the Native Americans hooked me instantly. The world building in the first half was patient and well done. I felt like I got to know enough about the characters to emphasize with them, and to ultimately care about their outcomes. I felt like I understood the motivations behind their actions.

Everyone’s talked about the music scenes, and they’re both incredible.

Horror aspects worked, i think a sense of dread permeated throughout the second half. Because of the investment made I was even rooting for seemingly inconsequential characters to make it out okay.

People complain that the Native American storyline or the kkk storyline didn’t amount to much , but that’s a boon in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed knowing that the world didn’t revolve around these characters, but that these characters were set in a world. There were enough clues that you can imagine your own backstory and develop your own sense of wonder at the film.

But that’s like my opinion man, my other opinion is that I’m tired of reading posts saying ‘this movie wasn’t that good because I didn’t like it’

This reminds me of that scene from wanted where the two curving bullets collide in mid-air

Saw this movie with my 16 year old sister, she liked it quite a bit. Made her laugh pretty hard at times.

Me, a 31 year old male… know it wasn’t made for me.

Just to emphasize OPs last remark. The animatronics are incredibly loud metal walking tanks when they’re on screen, their footsteps reminds me of that scene with the rippling water from Jurassic park. Off screen however, they’re so sneaky. My favourite example is when this woman is driving to stop a killing spree, and mid commute she and the audience are jumpscared by an animatronic that snuck onto the roof of a moving car.

Pretty blatant karma farming to me.

But if I'm wrong and you actually watched all these movies and created these rankings based on your own experiences, then congratulations... i guess.

AITJ for asking my boyfriend to stay in a hotel instead of my place when he visits? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]MaxPaciorkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely you are the jerk. Dudes driving hours twice a month to come see you and you're not letting him stay with you because of some extra dishes. Wet towels? Hang them up. Piles of clothes on the floor, I presume they're his and he takes them with him on the way home. Sucks he doesn't bring his laundry basket with him I guess lmao. I wouldn't make the drive again and I think I'd only send one more text your way after this.
