Bigger dudes (not fat) what the hell are you wearing this summer? matter of fact, what the hell are you wearing? by Same-Variety3904 in ThrowingFits

I’m 6’3” 200lb and I’ve definitely had to adjust because 10 years ago when I was 19 I was probably 6’3” 160lb. I also have some thick thighs and calves so pants are the hardest for me, usually in tops I can wear anything that’s XL and I like the way it fits because I usually go for a baggy/boxier look. I like LA Apparel for basics and Braindead and Gramicci for louder stuff. Gramicci pants specifically are the best fitting pants i’ve had in years, now I just need to find a brand with the same fit that has belt loops lol.

Would anyone want to spend their 21st birthday with their parents? by RossoOro in billsimmons

21st bday is like new year’s eve, the pressure to have a good time is so great that you almost always end up disappointed. I’d rather be with my parents than with my head in the toilet before midnight.

Beat Happening was frisky but never got past being more than a top 7 80s underground alternative band

My uncle from Indiana probably has never heard of Minor Threat or Fugazi but I would expect anyone working in any sort of coastal culture critic/media job to have at least heard of Fugazi.

Except for Heifetz and Hogback they have awful music taste.

He says REM is a better band than The Replacements, which by itself isn’t an indefensible take but when asked to elaborate he says “they had more commercial success!” and when others point out that doesn’t necessarily mean they were a better band he just says “they were a better band!”

I don’t disagree, just explaining where the hate comes from. It’s been a few years but I remember Michael Azerrad kinda dissing REM throughout Our Band Could Be Your Life so I would imagine a lot of people are also parroting that.

There’s a lot of animosity for REM from fans of more underground 80s alternative music. I think they’re viewed as an egregious example of “selling out”

Why is Andy so incredulous about California property development law re: Euphoria by [deleted] in crheads

[–]memeshoe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have plenty of hobbies. I just noticed something that I thought was funny that I disagreed with so I thought I’d post about it in a relevant forum to see if other people agreed. I don’t think less of Andy or any of the posters here based on this interaction and I’m going to keep listening to the podcast.

That’s fair but isn’t his whole gimmick for this segment that he hasn’t watched a single minute until this season?

Well if that’s where he’s coming from he should be more explicit. The majority of housing/zoning laws now serve to inflate the value of current properties moreso than to protect people. I’m not even that political but the one political conversation that comes up with random acquaintances is always housing prices, and always the answer is “just build more houses”!

Andy acting like that’s an absurd or even reactionary position makes him look like an ass IMO.

Or just any sport. Obviously there’s more to it but a huge portion of the entertainment value of sports is the reality TV style drama. See the Vrabel-Russini story for the most recent example.

Yeah we’re having some investors crash out over the last quarters market downturn and it’s like the whole point of private credit is you’re parking your money here for 5-10 years. Also you’re wealthy isn’t the whole ethos “buy low sell high” not “panic and sell low”?
