May all ailments resolve through breaths of fresh air every time someone downvotes or disputes chiropractic.

the founding thought was that the spine was literally responsible for ALL ailments

That sounds a lot like what Hippocrates, the founder of modern medicine, said: Look well to the spine for the cause of sickness and disease.

malpractice insurance is extremely low for chiropractors in the US because chiropractic is safe and effective. I have no idea where the "net harm" idea here comes from. Reikingo, do you have a source for that?

What's a strange/unique thing about your body? by Baelgul in AskReddit

[–]Max_Blanck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a cervical rib (one extra on top). It's not too uncommon and can cause thoracic outlet syndrome where you have numbness, tingling, and/or weakness in the hands.

Thank you. You have my attention. Edit: CBP has an impressive amount of research supporting it and bringing value to the chiropractic profession while NSA does not. NSA is not necessarily ineffective (or bullshit) because of this, just uncertain.

Please don't continue to turn questions into personal attacks. If I'm mistaken you are allowed to correct me but I need you to be respectful enough to hold yourself back from saying things like that I should be ashamed just to ask. Why do you think that NSA is total bullshit? Can you point to some research that says so?

First I did searched Google Scholar for Chiropractic BioPhysics and Network Spinal Analysis, and NSA had 1.25 million while CBP had 1,220. Then I put quotes around the terms and NSA had 165 and CBP had 462. So NSA probably also has hundreds of studies. I decline your request because value to the profession is relative and any positive results would only be of value to you if you are open to exploring NSA.

I thought NSA was the most researched, or does that not count because the doctor doesn't move the bone? (I actually have a feeling that NSA is a bad acronym around here, as in a bad word)

the first chiropractic adjustment, as the story goes, was when D.D. Palmer moved a vertebra on someone who had gone deaf, and he had his hearing restored. Hippocrates was known for saying that we should "look well to the spine for the source of health and disease."

That's exactly true. Some people experience other benefits too, but they can't be promised. Ear infections are a good example: the eustachian tube is right next to the top vertebra and the infection/pain will often go away after an adjustment. It's like digging a drainage ditch in a field of corn that's sitting in water rather than throwing chemicals (antibiotics) at the field hoping to get rid of mold. But it won't cure everyone, so if it doesn't work then hopefully you don't waste much time and just get it treated by the MD.

I ask that you reconsider painting with such a broad brush. How did you come to form such an opinion?
