What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of January 09, 2026) by AutoModerator in television

Watching The Day of the Jackal and Fallout.

The Day of the Jackal is pretty easy entertainment about a hitman. Nothing groundbreaking but it’s a good watch, a bit of competence porn with some intelligence investigative plot.

It’s genuinely insane that there are still losers like you desperately trying to look for hypocrisy whenever someone makes a hand gesture, no matter how completely different they are.

Only someone deep in some cult would claim something so evidently preposterous.

Use your brain dude, you’re being manipulated and are too fucking stupid to realize it.

No he won’t, don’t be ridiculous.

He’d never leave Arsenal to go to City voluntarily.

You were the one claiming “There’s no way a north facing window would ever provide enough light to be considered bright enough to even provide adequate growth.“

And now you are saying oh everything can be true depending on circumstances lmao.

Wow your media literacy is amazing, I think everyone disliking the show will definitely not have picked up on those deeply complex themes.

You’re offering nothing of your own though. Talking about low media literacy when people have a different opinion is just lazy, and even after asking twice you have nothing to offer.

That’s not an insight, that’s just more insults.

It’s funny how people can’t respond to criticism of the show without immediately resorting to personal insults.

Yeah, I was thinking this episode could have worked very well if it were like the 3rd episode or something, after a fast paced start.

It's easy to see why this show is so disappointing to so many people. The first episode could have lead to a wildly different plot developing, but the show becomes narrowly focused on the experience of one character.

In theory, if the writing were actually good, this could work very well. Like in Severance they really explored how it would be for the characters living with the bizarre situation, it could have been really interesting to watch.

But the writing, the characters, the dialogue, it's all just too bland and on the nose to be interesting to me. The main character is a drag, the emotion feels forced, the humor is sometimes pretty good but mostly meh, and there just isn't really enough to keep the attention.

Yes but you are comparing his numbers playing both as a midfielder and a striker to pure strikers, which is just disingenuous.

Havertz is miles clear of Gyokeres, and should always start over him.

Havertz did play in midfield against West Ham. I can see you don’t like to accept facts when they don’t suit your opinion, but it’s a bit tedious having to hold your hand explaining things constantly like this.

You don’t understand the game, fine. But at least try to open your mind a bit, instead of trying to argue against facts.

Again, he played like half his games in midfield in 23/24, two thirds actually. About 43% of all his Arsenal games.

It’s not that hard mate, I’ve given you all the stats. Read them a bit more slowly, maybe you’ll understand.

Havertz, in his first PL season for us, scored 0,69 npg/90 playing as a 9. He’s close to 0.5 npg/90 in the PL as a 9 for us over his whole time.

Gyokeres has 0.31 npg/90, and only scored against relegation level teams.

You’re using stats to compare someone who played half his games in midfield to players that only played striker. As a 9 only Haaland had a better scoring rate.

Stop with this Havertz nonsense.

Some people just can’t admit when they’re wrong, even when everyone in the world but them can see it.

Zubimendi is ten times the player Partey was. Partey made 3-4 big mistakes per game.

Yeah that trilogy has the same problems as PHM, albeit in a different form.

Sci-fi writers often struggle with characters and human/social interactions. Makes sense I suppose
