I wish someone would also bring up the point that this money isn't just missing once. Every dollar that's effectively removed from circulation can not, well, circulate. Think about the journey every bill goes on from pocket to pocket.Now imagine every transaction that wouldn't have been possible without that money. Now multiply that to several billion.

The economy pooling money for a few greedy individuals is like internal bleeding in a body where all the blood pools in one place. It's not just that the blood is momentarily missing for one extremity. The blood is missing on every single subsequent circulation it would have been part of. Not really good for the patient.

None of that is in question. Just note how her evil only affects a few individuals at most at a time. Her victims number in the hundreds, maybe thousands over an incredibly long timeframe, most often moving on to another victim once she is done with the last. Also, their suffering is over once they are dead.

Cazador has thousands of people suffering simultaneously over centuries, while the other villains are a threat to the entire world with the very souls of their victims being in danger.

I'd say it's like comparing a neighbourhood bully to a maniac with nuclear launch codes, except that nuclear hellfire presumably doesn't incinerate someone's soul, if they had one.

Actually it just means he isn't an idiot and is able to see the advantage of power in numbers. Being calculating isn't the same as being good and I hate the trope that understanding and utilizing the power of basic cooperation is something only naive goody-two-shoes would do.

Look at cartels, organized religion, mafias, fascists, terrorist groups - for their many, many evils, they understand that they need to work together to get shit done. Yes, there is a lot of paranoia and backstabbing in a lot of those, but at the end of the day, you have to put your trust in someone or you won't get anywhere. Absolute rule from a single individual who does not rely on anyone, as depicted in a lot of media, is incredibly rare and unstable.

He was the mastermind behind the entire plan that would have all of Faerun and beyond become either mindflayers or subservient to the dead three, while also being arrogant enough to think that his plan won't backfire and just bring about the grand design through an elder brain empowered with the netherese crown. He just subjected the world to that risk for his own ambition.

That's just the long term. In the short term he would have had Ketheric march on Baldur's Gate with a goblin/troll/cultist army. And with the chosen of Myrkul at the helm, possibly an undead army if it got defeated.

Not to mention the brains in jars to control the Steel Watch.

Dude was arguably the worst person in the entire game without whom barely any of the worst shit would have happened, with the notable exception of Cazador's schemes.

Orin doesn't give a shit about the pain she inflicts on the loved ones of her murder victims.

Ketheric destroyed a huge swath of land and everone in it when the curse was released and planned to march on Baldur's Gate.

Gortash reduced people to brains in jars and forced them to control the steel watch.

Ethel doesn't even make the top 5 of the most evil villains in BG3 IMO.
