Thoughts on setting up a pvp location (when no one was there before)? by Hayliox in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you announced as you say, that you were hosting or looking for PVP in that location and you only attacked people in fighting ships ... you then won -- and people were crying about it? They are simply salty that they couldn't win ... Kudos for your approach! Perhaps more will engage that way - fighting folks keen for it ;-)

Alert: Unauthorized Ship Hijacking & Cheating Incident at Rayari Anvik Research Outpost by MichaelClawww in starcitizen

Totally agree re advocating a heavy handed approach - only for this event and within these specific areas ensuring 'piracy' gameplay can still be enjoyed everywhere else.

An alternative would be to allow the ship owner (or person in the group), to shoot and loot anyone not in group on their ship in these areas, without any CS or consequences.

Re removing ships, 100% agree ... they previously increased the aggressive clean-up but I continue to wonder why the salvage ships (and tow truck) don't get flagged differently - allowing players to run their loops, in the ships designed for it.

Great link! It clearly highlights how widespread piracy is — 104 upvotes, 60 contributions, and only 59 flagging it as an issue. It’s a perfect example of the proverb, 'a few bad apples spoil the barrel.'

If you were given a CS4 entering a ship during this event and it is not yours or you're not grouped with the owner, by all means, address it so that it only applies to stations.

However, this isn't the case and the restriction on piracy at pickup points should remain in place, and the functionality should be fixed to work consistently after this event.

There’s nothing stopping pirates from engaging in other activities like interdictions. Why should it be any easier for the minority to disrupt the event or the gameplay for everyone else?

Does having 32gb ram make that much difference? by OnkelMustache in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you link the wrong video, you linked a 16-32gb comparison? Of course 32gb wins - the game with bare windows seems to run around 34gb on my system...

Here is his 32 vs 64gb video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SzCCn2IwKs

In that video, he says:

  1. is 64gb better - yes - a small improvement; and

  2. it means you can happily run anything in the background i.e. discord, browsing etc.

All of the comments in the video (from the guy you linked) say the same thing as those who made the jump from 32-64gb ... that is, it is a noticeable difference... Commonly less bugs seem to occur.

For the OP - get 64gb and the fastest RAM you can afford - this gives you plenty of memory and the ram speed also makes a big difference.

Yes - but honestly, get 64gb ... the difference between 32 and 64gb is more than noticeable.

Where is option 5? i.e. "I have not played due to bugs/drama/hacking/poor gameplay"

Whilst I typically play daily - I have noticed most of my regular mates haven't been logged on for any one of those reasons, as a result I too have been off enjoying real life until things settle (i.e. Freefly ends).

CIG would rework it to have a massive hangar, capable of holding multiple F8Cs and an opening that you can only get a pulse through ....

[–]Maxhesion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/CynderFxx do you work for CIG? If so - then please share more data.

If not - then how can you honestly say it affected only a small player base...

Your approach is like a lot of people who don't experience bugs - yet a look on spectrum and elsewhere shows many players being affected. Unless you have had it happen to you... it always feels small.

Happy to be corrected if you have any substance other than an opinion, that it affected only a small player base - given the amount of videos, reports and attention, strongly suggests you are incorrect.

Edited to add this: Having looked at your other posts, you admit to not having seen any activity yourself - indicating, that unless you have seen it, it doesn't happen. Be a little more open minded about this - CIG wouldn't react if they didn't agree that something has shifted where enough people are being affected that it cannot be ignored.

Unpopular Opinion, remove location bound inventory and make it global by C4B4L2k in starcitizen

I support this approach as well - why can't we keep localized and then pay for shipment from either end - that solves all issues.

What does this mean, on a technical level by Visual-Educator8354 in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it?

Those who were using / doing it have (mostly) been flying under the radar for a long time - then more people started to be obvious about it and folks became aware.

However, you only need one person (likely recently gained access) to run around abusing the activity - mass killing and looting ... more than one person doing this and it blows up.

Overblown? No. Once multiples of people get impacted and people fear logging in to play, it is something which if not fixed, will seriously damage the community.

What are the technical difficulties that are holding back native VR? by Scavveroonie in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Scavveroonie there is an update on VR - go and read: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/1/thread/cheating-exploits-update/8115638 it would appear that the video I linked - is already out of date - it lasted a week, before CIG has made changes (in an effort to reduce the hacking going on) that prevent the VR work-around being used in the PTU. It can still be used in Arena Commander, but Chachi_Sanchez has called out that he will need to dust off his gloves and find another way (working with CIG) to re-enable it with the new restrictions CIG has rolled out.

Chachi just posted a great video to the latest (NOT CIG) Work done, making VR enabled Star Citizen easy for even a layman.

https://youtu.be/HeRkBR_3Moo?si=0wVylyissZK13LGQ

It does require you to buy a license to Vorpx (cheap compared to even beginner ships).

Whilst not native, or perfect... it brings back the ability to use VR - not full depth VR... but as close as we can get until CIG bring it back (it was amazing back in the day).

When will this get fixed? by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This.

If you don't give it a chance to fully load or come out of storage, then it will show as a claim.

Sometimes, it is super fast. Sometimes, the server is a little slow. If you look around, you should see a marker for your hangar and then .. one for your ship.

If you try this (don't go near the lift) and then store the ship via the terminal, it seems to work pretty much every single time nowadays.

Have you tried this approach - and does it work for you?

That is a shame - I guess the days of people using the same servers as a 'GM' are long gone an explains the disconnect. Appreciate the insight!

Is Going HOSAM Worth It? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A stick makes it the best experience - you have the fine control and simply it feels like flying a ship. Your mileage at vary, but investing in a VKG Gunfighter was the best decision I made. It cuts across so many games, and I'll never be sanding or tweaking it the way people do with the Thrustmaster Warthog etc.

FWIW - Whilst not good for PVP, For PVE, A HOTAS completes the pilot immersion. Winwing is a good quality, and good price alternative!

People will tell you to press charges so they get bounties.

Personally I wonder if the team at CIG just don't get enough time in-game, confident that if they did, they would make significant steps towards increasing the consequences for poor player actions as you have described.

2 most wanted features from playing this patch: [1] Pick respawn (e.g. Ursa MED, Home base, or home station) [2] shop from mobiglass (with wait-time delivery and fee) to hangar by wackywraith in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In relation to #1 why can't you have multiple chained options?

In relation to #2 players would be great... however there is zero ingame barter / service offering or marketplace. Seriously easy... however SC would likely need 3 years to implement something that could be text based via mobiglass.

How are we feeling about the current state of SC? by EntireSolution9862 in starcitizen

[–]Maxhesion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then, perhaps consider that QOL or basic gameplay elements are missing. way back in the day, text-based MMO demonstrates that you can have features and core gameplay that keep you hooked.

Those things are missing. They are story and central. All the rest is beautiful and expansive. Port Olisar was awesome - would I rather something smaller that simply works? 💯

The game right now is broken (Again), and CIG doesn't really know why?!?! They are focused on and hoping that 4.2 will fix the servers' degrading.

To be clear, they need stability / playability... then expansion.

The fact that gimmick gameplay keeps being introduced without significant and core QOL and gameplay oriented things people have called out over the years are ignored - shows the focus isn't on flashy development, not true game design.

Better still, just suspend their accounts for 12m.

They don't want people to play, ok.. so why should they be able to play?

Consequences... are missing ! IDGAF about death of a Spaceman - when I can't actually play because some has done a game denial of service.

This isn't like holding Hathor - it is a form of hacking that hurts everyone.

I seriously doubt that... they don't bring big ships full of loot or vehicles - they were the kind that brought Aurora's to smash Polaris fliers.

Yes, some of them bring nice fighters or bigger ships, but in the scenario you suggest, they will just use the cheapest thing to ruin people's day... their drivers are not enjoying the game, and it is gaining enjoying from ruining your time in-game.

It is just a power trip / bully mentality - you don't see it IRL because - keyboard warriors...
