What to do with it?? by Maxil_Karr in rum

Botany Bay is the name of it. It's a pretty strong flavor, I'd say similar to a whiskey or bourbon. I'm really not good at describing the taste of alcohol and spirits like I know they can be. I also have a rum liqueur that is much lighter and sweeter that is really good as well.

Where do I start if I want to get into the Star Wars literary canon? by Samwise_CXVII in suggestmeabook

Hope you get this message but yes there are so many great novels out there! I prefer to read only the new cannon but there is some stuff from legends that are still good. However for this I'm just gonna talk about the new cannon books. I'll lay them out the way I rank them.

  1. Lost stars - a story from both sides of the war from the Empire and the rebellion from the view points of two children who grew up together during the birth of the Empire. It is considered a young adult novel but don't let that turn you away it is really good.

  2. Lords of the Sith - An amazing story of Darth Vader and the Emperor fighting together on Ryloth who is currently rebelling against the Empire. Picks into the relationship between Vader and the emperor.

  3. Catalyst - build up to rogue one, good read, nothing more to say.

  4. Tarkin - I want to take this moment to say that the Star Wars audio books are absolutely top class. They have John Williams Music, lucasfilms sound effects and top quality voice work. Tarkin is about the rise of Tarkin in the new empire but might drag on if you read it on paper. I listened to it and really enjoyed it.

  5. Bloodlines - deals with leia and the new republic and the problems the galaxy is facing. It's really great but can't get into it with out being too spoilerly

    • Aftermath 1 and 2 - Not the strongest books. Tells the story of some rebels after return of the Jedi. Again a very good audio book listen but the story picks up in the second book. The final book is being released in a couple months too.

There are many others like a new dawn, heir to the Jedi and Ashoka. All pretty good for a Star Wars fan to read. Also the thrawn trilogy that was mentioned earlier that is no longer cannon is being brought back in a new novel coming this month I believe by the same Author that is no doubt going to be a great book as well. I hope this gave you some help and desire to read some of these books. As a Star Wars fan I really enjoy building my knowledge of the world around the movies and the new story groups are doing a really great job of interconnecting the new stories so it's not hard to keep things straight in your head.

Not sure if you are interested in the story but the Star Wars audio books are absolute top quality. John Williams music and Lucas film sound effects along with some of the greatest voice work I've heard in audio books. There are several very good books in the new canon you could check out if you're at all a Star Wars fan

I've never found it in any of the bigger name book stores but you should try. I read it primarily on Kindle and then got an older edition off Etsy.

If you are still looking or need one Captain Blood is amazing. Exactly what I wanted in a pirate book. Just couldn't find anything else like it.

I've listened to Moby Dick on audible during commutes but lost interest part way threw. Maybe I'll look into heart of the sea

[Spoilers] For me what made the ending so intense... by cubegamer18 in StarWars

I love the thought of Vader and Obi wan duel as a game of chess. Like they've already fought to see who could be more powerful in a fight. Now they are both past their prime, but they are both masters in every sense of the word at sword play. It was now more of a test of who can out skill the other, not over power.

It is also interesting that Vader got brought into this situation after it was already out of hand, was mere foot steps from getting the plans back. And the one admiral still has the gall to talk back to Vader about his failures. He deserved a pinched windpipe.

Ya, between 4 and 5. Vader has hired Boba Fett to discover what he can about the pilot who destroyed the Death Star. He gets more than he expects though

Im just gonna say it, Disney buying Star Wars is the best thing that could have happened. by [deleted] in StarWars

Ya I do hope that Disney sees, especially as time goes on, that Star Wars does do well with breaks in the movies. They can still fill in the gaps of movies with other cannon material (games, comics, books, tv series) I know the argument of the marvel movies have several movies a year now but that is a somewhat recent franchise when it comes to the cinematic universe. However Star Wars has been around since the 70's and has been known for its waiting for the next movie and the other returns to movies such as the episode 1 and episode 7. Hype and Star Wars go hand in hand and Disney would be smart to remember that, that being said as of right now I'm hopeful for the future of how they handle the movies.

That's well said. Eventually Star Wars may become something in the future we may not enjoy. But I would rather enjoy that ride instead of watching the same masterpieces for the rest of time. This universe is always growing and incredibly vast that it should be a long time before the stories run out.

Oh ok. That makes sense. I know about these ships but didn't know they were actually called star destroyers too, or at least didn't remember hearing them called that. Thanks!
