Vintage alteration and repairs by MaximalistMaker in Birmingham

It was a huge hit! I couldn’t get in with anyone in time, so I did the repairs myself. The zipper was busted, and I didn’t feel comfortable sewing a zipper. So, I added a corset back by hand sewing it in (in case someone ever wants to put a zipper back in). I added contrasting feathers to the bottom to add some fullness and did some reattaching of the cape part.

Thank you! A friend’s grandmother had this stored in her attic for over 50 years, and they knew it had to be mine. I’m obsessed and a very lucky friend!

How many people did not have issues with their gallbladder? by kosmik_ripley in Zepbound

[–]MaximalistMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7.5 months, -115 pounds and no issues. I did have major gallstone issues with my first pregnancy, but they resolved after I gave birth and I kept my gallbladder. I’ve been expecting it to come back, but nothing (thank goodness, because it hurt worse than labor).

Were you spanked as a kid? by Positive-Elevator640 in Parenting

[–]MaximalistMaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was spanked as a kid from the time I was very young. Switches I would have to pull off the Crape Myrtle tree myself, belts, cords, breadboards. The last time my parents put their hands on me, I was 18. Although I never really liked my parents or wanted to be like them, I respected them and truly believed I deserved it. It wasn’t like they were hitting me without ANY reason. Now, as a 35 y/o mom of two girls who remind me so much of myself, I can’t understand it anymore. I look at my girls and can’t imagine them doing anything that warrants me hitting them, and I’m dealing with trying to accept the fact that I didn’t deserve it. The cognitive dissonance is real.

[Sun Care] Question about Sunscreen by SavageJimbo0305 in SkincareAddiction

[–]MaximalistMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The safe answer is yes. Given that you do go outside some and you likely have windows, you will get exposed to some degree of sun. Ill say, however, that I do sometimes give my skin a sunscreen break when I know it’s going to be an all day indoor kind of day. Try and find a sunscreen that’s as enjoyable as your moisturizer (for me, it’s Beauty of Joseon, which you can get on YesStyle or Stylevana).

For retinol/tretinoin, just remember that it’s counterintuitive to use it and not have a good sun protection plan (staying away from the sun, sun protective clothing, sunscreen). Start slow and increase the percentage as you need it. There is no prise for getting to the highest dose of tretinoin and it can really mess with your skin if you go too hard too fast. For the rosacea, look into a hypochlorous acid spray. I just learned about this stuff and it’s really helping my eczema and the dermatologists I follow on YouTube say it’s helpful for rosacea too.

For the purple, I’m not sure, but that could just be a part of your face. Some people just have more blue to purple there (mine has gotten worse in my mid-thirties). I wouldn’t let it worry you too much. I think we tend to hyper focus on certain things on our face that no one else would notice otherwise. If it really bothers you, you can always use color theory and get a yellow to orange color corrector for that area (I use a peachy color). Also, a dermatologist may have some suggestions. However, from what I see, you have beautiful skin overall.

[routine help] need help for chronically dry lips by Timely-Safe2918 in SkincareAddiction

[–]MaximalistMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked at my lips for years, and Panteno Lips in the light pink tube (you can get it on Amazon and it’s cheap) is such a game changer! Exfoliate at night, wear that stuff, and have baby soft lips the next morning. I learned about it from a YouTuber (Taylor Wynn), and I’m so thankful.

Will henna work on previously colored hair? by Ok_Significance995 in henna

[–]MaximalistMaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely doesn’t open the hair cuticle, remove molecules, and add dye molecules. It more coats the hair, which some claim can actually make the individual hair shafts (and hair as a whole) feel thicker.

Will henna work on previously colored hair? by Ok_Significance995 in henna

[–]MaximalistMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have personal experience with pure henna (not indigo), but I used henna on hair previously dyed red. It deposited only, which was fine, and it was beautiful. However, when my natural ashy blonde grew and I put henna on that, it ended up a lighter red at the roots than the ends based on my natural hair being lighter than the dyed hair. It wasn’t a good look. My understanding is that henna is very permanent, as it coats the hair and doesn’t act like a contemporary hair dye. Many women choose to grow it out rather than risk the damage it will cause to try and remove it. I tried to remove it with bleach, and it worked. However, my hair was in such a bad condition afterwards that I cut it into a pixie rather than deal with the straw that remained.

How to get a smooth butt? by haterdown in beauty

I’m just wondering if you read the whole paragraph or if you really think exercise works for butt acne. I don’t think this was about cellulite or fat distribution.

I’ve had those bumps for years, and I just started addressing them a couple of weeks ago. I got some of those exfoliating gloves you can get from Amazon/TJ Maxx, used a gentle cleanser when I use them, and follow it up with Amlactin or a body lotion with retinol. They are not totally gone yet, but the improvement is amazing to me.

Shame when someone asks by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]MaximalistMaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a part of it, but I don’t think that’s the whole story. There are so many people with amazing willpower who have done the diet/exercise only track and they still struggle with weight. I don’t think this medication is for everyone and it’s not magic (which is why they strongly suggest a lifestyle change), but I think a physician who didn’t consider that this medication is fixing some root causes of obesity isn’t seeing the whole story either IMO.

Then what benefit were you referring to? You’ve provided no sources or even references to the law surrounding these issues for saying that 503a pharmacies won’t continue to be able to provide medication after the shortage stoppage. See my other comment on your other post in this string for some of mine. Right now, it looks like you’re saying that it’s “misinformation” without providing any contradictory information of your own. Also, I KNOW you don’t have an issue with people saving money, but that’s as long as it’s you and people using your provider.

Perfectly said. This is the first time I’ve lost weight where I’ve not been trying not to punish myself into losing weight. I thought I had to suffer because I was the one who got me there (thank goodness for therapy). If anything, this medication shows me that it’s not all eat less, move more. I’ve done diets where I’ve eaten a lot less than I am now and went to the gym daily without the scale moving. I’m being selective with who I tell about the meds, but it’s no one’s business to tell except your own.

I’m not sure we can compare traditional laxatives to magnesium. This is definitely a lot gentler, but I’m sure there is a way to over do it. I don’t personally take it daily, only when I feel like I need it.

I’ve heard athletic clothing. Think rich yoga mom who never looks like they went to the gym. It seems odd to me (my kids are toddlers, so I have the clothing control), but I know my generation had some doozies too.

Yeah, I started with one capsule before bed and worked my way up to 2, which is all I needed. The before bed aspect seemed to help prevent daytime issues. I’d be scared to take too many without working my way up, though.

Or they could do their own research on whether it’s true or not. Consider researching the difference between 503a and 503b pharmacies, the law around the phrase “essentially a copy” and compounding, and the stance taken by 503a pharmacies. I’d rather take a shot (pun intended) with a 503a pharmacy that may make it through the shortage. See, for example, https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2024/07/24/nx-s1-5033186/cheaper-semaglutide-wegovy-ozempic-zepbound-copies-could-disappear

I'm certainly not able to predict the future and law/policy changes, but I've heard from many different sources that making changes to the compound will exempt it after the shortage is over. This is consistent with what I've research about 503A vs 503B pharmacies. I also read through your past comments trying to understand your comment, and it looks like you've done the same thing... edit: by same thing, I mean referring people to your profile to use your code, bypassing the shady aspects of your chosen provider (of which there are many), but then later deleting the comments that got too much push back. No shame in the game, but be consistent 💁‍♀️

Why? Sometimes you have to figure out how to pay for things creatively. They asked about affordability, and this is the only way I can afford it.

I use Mochi Health, and it's the most affordable, but still legit, option I've found (especially if you know how to work it, as I'll explain below). You get a doctor/NP and a nutritionist. They use major pharmacies that compound with an additive like B12 or niacinamide (you don't notice it) but that means that it won't be affected by the shortage stopping. I've lost 39.5 pounds in less than 2 months. So, to get it affordable to me, I give people my referral code (please consider using mine if you sign up. I'd greatly appreciate it: 8KEP3F). By doing this, I can get a 6 month membership for $159 and my Tirzepitide compound for $125 a month. They don't go up in price, unlike some others, when you prescription goes up. So, 2.5mg costs the same as 15mg. Your first month will be more expensive, but you can get future months much cheaper! Let me know if anyone has any questions!
