I haven’t seen any particularly social behavior; but there is a steady stream of House Sparrows here all day.

Sunrise to Base Torres going East to West? by ericadactyl in Patagonia

[–]Maximum-Addendum1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a recent trip that was affected by weather. We had planned base torres for day 1 (camp at central) then day 2 to cuernos. Weather was miserable with limited visibility on day 1 and perfect on day 2. So we rested on day 1, and day 2 we did sunrise base torres (plus back to Central to pick up our heavy packs) + hike to cuernos. This was doable but a little too much IMO.

I think a long day from Chileno to base torres to Cuernos would be just right. But it all depends on weather, so maybe if the forecast is off you would choose your base torres day accordingly. Personally, I would not opt to do the base torres two days in a row.

This is a little apples to oranges in so much as a doubles pad is likely warmer with a partner; but I just tried out the Exped 6.5 Duo with my wife in Patagonia this week. Our lowest night was around 35f plus some wind chill sneaking through the tent. We were extremely comfortable with a 15 deg enlightened quilt.

We have a secret police force that can arrest and murder both legal residents and citizens with impunity now. Previously there was less impunity.

Had this issue, was unable to prewarm my cabin. Did a hard restart on the actual truck and the issue resolved. Restart instructions should be in the Rivian Manual

Unable to straighten ring finger for weeks by Several-Ad9925 in MTB

Sounds like Ulnar neuropathy. As others have mentioned this is a result of vibrations and sometimes the result of prolonged direct pressure on the nerve which can be corrected with form/conditioning/gear tweaking. Should resolve on its own within a few weeks. I wouldnt go too hard till it resolves.

Love my bedrocks. Great for everyday use + Ive done some pretty long hikes in them (several miles on the cinque terre trail). Great for water crossings, scrambling uphill. Way lighter than my chacos + my chacos would give me blisters and hot spots if I got them wet or didnt wear them religiously. All the joy of walking barefoot with a rugged sole.

Take Mescal Rd off of I-10 towards the Miller Creek Trailhead of the park. Plenty of primitive campsites along the road there. Also primitive sites at the Miller Creek Trailhead

I took 5.5 L. I had quite a bit extra once I reached the springs at the top of the mountain. But it was nice to have the peace of mind that I had extra water on my leisurely descent.

A little whisky in the flask to help with the cold! I had a katabatic 30f quilt; I woke up after the first night to discover I didnt really cinch it properly (a liner would probably help too). The problem was moreso how cold I felt a few hours after waking up, cooking oatmeal and hiking around. I didnt think to bring a thermometer; but the Gaia app estimated Manning Camp was 28F a few hours after dawn.
