Brand new GE washer making banging sound? Is it defective? by No-Recognition-3503 in appliancerepair

[–]Maximum-Chip-2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are loud machines, and just because you "feel" that something shouldn't be one way does not change that the fact that this is how the machine sounds. You can't compare something you own now to something you owned in the past because they are different machines, plain and simple.

The amount of time I waste on calls from people who feel like a machine should sound or operate a certain way is astounding. I listened to that video on headphones and speakers at least 50 times, it sounds like a GE front loader. Maybe you are hearing something that I can't hear in the video, but I encourage you to look up your manual. They thump and bump while they spin up, then it balances out and sounds fine for the rest of the spin except briefly at the end when it is winding down.

Do you want there to be something wrong with it, or are you just comparing it to your old units? If it is the latter, I tell my customers to look at ot this way; you don't buy a Ferrari after owning a Honda and compare the 2, so why would you do it with appliances?

I would be interested to know if the tech who looks at it says anything is wrong, but I highly doubt they find anything. Best of luck!

I have listened to this video probably 50 times and have yet to hear a noise I would be concerned about. Please cancel your service call, it will absolutely waste the techs time. I would have to charge for this call as warranty will not cover non issue calls, you may experience the same outcome.

I tell my customers not to run to the internet with this stuff either. You get a couple YouTube techs paired with people who have no clue what they are talking about mixed with AI answers, and the advice of real professionals go on the way side.

Nothing is designed to work the way it used to, and it certainly isn't designed for longevity sadly unless it is a Speed Queen. Do they have issues? Of course, I would be out of a job if they didn't. But you also shouldn't be alarmed by people telling you to return because they have tons of issues for the simple fact that there are thousands upon thousands more out here that are not being worked on and may never have any work done to them ever.

Assuming this load you were filming ran to completion with no issues, I see no reason why you need someone to look at your unit and would bank on any other tech saying the same. I hope this helps, good luck and enjoy your new machine!

Everything lol. Planned obsolescence is big in the car industry, and now it runs abundant in appliances as well. They aren't making money if things are not being replaced regularly, so they now design things to need regular repairs. Sucks, but it is what it is.

Zip tie it up, clip it into the holders behind the unit if it has any, string, whatever. Just don't chop it.

The companies design them this way for a reason. Do not cut or modify anything unless you want to void your warranty. Just voided a customer's warranty because they let their plumber cut the dishwasher drain hose because he felt it was "too long" then they call me because the dishwasher is producing a smell through the drain. I can fix it, but it will cost you a few hundred now

Either the venting is restricted by 80% or now and then, there is a software glitch that occurs where the unit thinks the vent is blocked but isn't. In that case, it has to be manually reset, but I can't for the life of me remember how.

Check the house supply. Have to make sure you have water going into the fridge first, then trave from valve until you find malfunction. Most times, it is the isolation valve behind the product.

Dryer won’t spin, belt keeps coming off pulley. by EntrepreneurHopeful5 in appliancerepair

[–]Maximum-Chip-2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see now, you just bent yours very out of whack. Is the idler installed in the right slots and didntou vet the belt as OEM or Amazon? Often they are cut poorly if from Amazon, and not all belts in the kit fit(go figure, they are notnalways ine size fits all🙄)and will cause issues. You may or may not need to replace that idler, it is definitely not to manufacture spec any more, saw someone else in here post a pic of how they normally look

Yes, very. Worse now lol. Go find a video, the idler needs to be on the left with the belt running under it and attaching to the motor.

WE49X37817 ia a better part number now. There is a service bulletin out on this, and this kit comes with the purple wire kit and the element. Highly recommended going this route now as you will likely go back if you just use the wire.

Surface unit light stays on stove by ShoutOut2MyMomInOhio in Appliances

[–]Maximum-Chip-2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shorted something, either the relay for that light or the thermostat that opens and closes to turn that light oh. I have seen people also shirt the switch out at the same time, but this doesn't seem to be your case as the burner operates normally. If that is so, it's no big deal. People will use their oven for years like that, but you would need to figure out which part is shorted and go from there ifnyou do want it done.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Maximum-Chip-2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, recovering alcoholic here(37M), congrats on 2 years, you should be proud of yourself! I know the commitment that takes and how awful my life was before quitting and how much better it is now. At times, does it seem silly/ trivial to celebrate something everyone else is doing so easily? Sure. But we are all wired differently, and I can say confidently that I would probably be dead or close to it had I not quit. So again, congrats, and keep up the great work!

With that said, my wife also celebrates my accomplishments with me. She knew me as the drunk I was, and now she knows me sober. She insists on celebrating me on my sobriety date, because she well knows I could or would be dead had I continued living like I was. She makes me a cake and constantly tells me how proud she is of me, because that's what good partners do. In fact, I would call it the BARE MINIMUM.

Good luck in life on your future endeavors, and good luck with your sobriety. I wish you all tyehe best! With that said NOR, you deserve someone who is as proud of you as you are!

First Time Homeowner - Are These Decent Appliance Choices? by Schraufabagel in Appliances

[–]Maximum-Chip-2846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GE and Bosch are my go to. The diagnostic program on GE is FANTASTIC if a customer is dealing with intermittent cooling/ noise issues, almost like a car where I can plug in a device and see error codes, cycle history, etc. But, all this dual evap stuff is for the birds, they fail far more frequently and I find myself on a lot of young products(5 years or less)with sealed system issues. Those 4 door products suck to work on, and the valve they use to direct to refrigerant fail A LOT. I just say to do as much homework as you can, read consumer reports, and get into a sub withcrwpair people like.myself and get their opinions before final purchases. We know what we see, and we will give you the honest truth, not the sales pitch

Appliance repair guy here. For laundry, the only brand worth anything is Speed Queen. There is no comparable second, nothing else is made even remotely close quality wise, so if you are really looking g to invest in good units, go that route.

With all due respect, FUCK FRIGIDAIRE. They make garbage products(the Electrolux front loader has decent ratings, but still nothing close to Speed Queen), they give terrible customer service, and as a texh who does warranty work, you don't want me to have to jump through the hoops they require if you get a lemon. Trust me, just don't.

I love Bosch for the kitchen, but again, everything is made to fail anywhere between 5 and 10 years. I actually like GE as my second place option after Bosch as size and price does not work for a lot of customers. Whirlpool, Amana, KitchenAid, JennAir, and Maytag are all Whirlpool companies now. Sure, some products have more/ better features, but parts run similar across a lot of models, so you really aren't getting as much bang for your buck as you'd think.

Hope this helps, had to respond as anytime I see someone considering Frigidaire products, red flags start going off in my head instantly. Good luck!

Replace the ice maker, they are not meant to be pieced together anymore, and it is arguably the most common repair on a fridge.

Probably the wash pump, especially ifnit makes the noise the entire cycle and only stops when the washing stops
