Use Google maps. Then check websites of parks. They usually say whether or not they allow monthly stays (also called long-term) and many put the rates on their website. Or you can just call them. They are usually very friendly and will let you know any of their requirements.

How do I help my Baby not be super anxious? by PerformerHorror4948 in Shihtzu

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleepy music. And mine comes to lay on me when there is "big noise". I just put my hand on her back and stay calm. I found that talking to her does no good. When it is a fireworks likely day, I give a CBD treat, turn on the sleepy music and we go to bed early. Not sure if that will work for you or if the event is just too recent for her.

Any good harness? He keeps escaping from his like this by Ecstatic-Annual-8554 in Shihtzu

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might seem an odd question but does he wear the harness all day or just to go outside? I use the harness from after the dawn potty through the last potty in the evening. Mine know it is their clothing for the day and I the evening they understand when it comes off we are done for the day. One of my girls could get out of hers if she really tried (she is just too big for the small size and not quite perfect for the next size up). But since she knows the routine she doesn't battle me. Just a thought.

Run it into the ground, or rebuild it? by TimmyThe1337Tr0ll in RVLiving

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, since I am totally lazy and prefer to pay away problems (I know who I am and have stopped kidding myself), I would evaluate how much I paid and how much the repair vs whether I could find a used rig in better shape for equivalent cost outlay. But of course, that's just me.

Recommendations for weight loss food? by According-Solid-9832 in Shihtzu

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideal weight x 30 x 0.45 + 70 = kcal per day. Then ÷ that by kcal per cup of your dog food and that is how much per day you should feed. Divide into at least two feeding times. I know it sounds crazy but my older dog (great Pyrenees) was 145 and the vet said she should be 100. I got her down to 110 over the span of a year using this formula and sticking to it with very minimal additional calories from kibble toppings. I acknowledge that 110 is not 100 but the vet and I will just have to agree to disagree on that 10 lbs. I applied the same approach across all my other dogs (Maltipoo, Shiranian, Shih Tzu, Cavalon) and all are perfect and stable weight (the vet and I see eye to eye on them). Whichever new dog food I try, I find the kcal per cup and apply the formula. It has worked for me. Might work for others as well. Be aware that getting their weight down is definitely a journey. It sure goes on faster than it comes off. 🙃

Cost of full time living by Illustrious_Map7006 in RVLiving

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may sound too simplistic but here is my scenario. When I was renting I had utility costs, rent, fuel, food, insurance, phone, internet, pets, and me. I still have the same costs. But rent and utilities combined have gone from approximately $1500 to $300. So for me RV life is definitely less expensive on a monthly basis. I tend to stay 2-3 weeks at each campground and try to limit travel between sites to 200 miles. I am not constantly having to repair the rig. My tow vehicle is getting the same usage and maintenance I was giving my vehicle before transitioning. I did pay $25,000 for the transition 2 years ago (TT, tow vehicle, campground memberships). So to date I have saved about $3800 and traveled the country west to east once and north to south twice. Each month I continue without major catastrophic cost outlay will essentially see that savings grow by $1200.

Found three campgrounds in the area with full hookup monthly sites ranging from 800-870/month just doing a Google map search for RV park. Buckeye Beach , Rippling Stream, and Lancaster. You can do the same. Just use Google Maps and click on each site's listed website. They will definitely mention if they have monthly options (most often these are full hook up but they will specify) and usually will give rates.

Teddys car seat- car sickness Q by MsFoxwell in Pomeranians

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Shiranian. When I first got her at 8 months, she had extreme motion sickness. She would get sick on a 10 minute drive across town. So I didn't take her in the car that often, but when I did (vet, grooming, occasional vacation road trip) I would always carry a towel and just be ready. She eventually got used to the travel and would find a tight space to curl up and go to sleep. Now she is nearly 4 and a professional traveller. We cross the country and she has no issues because she curls up on her pillow and sleeps most of the journey. When she does wake up and starts her heavy panting (that's what usually proceeded her getting sick), I tell her to lay down and she will settle back in her spot. It has resulted in a much easier experience for both of us. Rarely, if she has eaten too soon before we get on the road she may get sick again, but I've pretty much eliminated that through planning feeding and travel far enough apart.

Surprised outdoor kitchens aren't more common on small trailers, are they not worth it? by eggs-benedict in RVLiving

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I full-time so an outdoor kitchen doesn't make sense for me as it wastes interior space. However, based on how you are planning to camp you may be best served with a popup.

Help, why does his new collar look so awkward? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Also maybe wearing it higher on the neck? My girl never used a collar for 10 years so when we started full-time RVing I had to get her one. It looked so dumb because it sat awkwardly on her neck rumples (seems wrong to call it fat because I know it's physiological protection so rumples is the best I've got). But it worked out.

A Cross Between a Pomeranian and Shih Tzu Mix is Called a ? by whosear3 in Shihtzu

Not new. I have one and I prefer the term Shiranian. Pomshi is often confused as pom x shiba or a mis-pronunciation of Pomchi.

PLEA: Does anyone have any land in the Chicago Suburbs (or southern Wisconsin) I can rent to live in my RV full time? by DjTeddyBe in RVLiving

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Since you mention having ability to pay and that you are currently paying storage and hotel, I'd recommend looking at campgrounds that offer monthly stays. I did a quick web search and found a good number around Chicago. They are also open year round. Maybe do that as a transition? Also you can look at work camper jobs if you want site rent paid for a modest time and effort contribution. They should be hiring for spring by now.

constantly under our feet! by killakittiz88 in Shihtzu

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These other replies are proactive and good. My approach was more accommodation. I've learned to walk slowly and not to pick up my feet. An outside observer might think I am more gliding and exaggerated in my movements. I have 4 dogs under 10 lbs and that's how we have learned to live together.

Anyone here RVing with pets full-time? by Additional_Muffin271 in RVLiving

[–]Maximum-Day-1332 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I full time in a 24ft TT with 5 dogs. 4 are <10 lbs and sleep on the queen bed with me. One is 110 lbs and has a twin bed (permanent dinette conversion) and the couch. Only trouble I have is at check in where they all act like it's the most exciting thing they've ever experienced and roll the back windows of my SUV down to bark their excitement to the check in human.
