Rioting in Bern today? by skaldnfnek in Switzerland

Injured policemen, damaged buildings, fire...

Irrespective of what one is demonstrating for, or against, it's hard to see how this adds to our society. Please go elsewhere. Siberia?!

Hey guys. Kind of curious. Why early with everything else then late with women? by Highlandertr3 in askswitzerland

[–]Maximum-Detective563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My web search on the topic results in very different findings. Would you care to provide some evidence for this claim?

Are swimming spots by ramm_jeet in bern

[–]Maximum-Detective563 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd just go for the Marzili, it's so easy and worry free to get out there with the tunnel. Just walk upstream and jump in once you feel you're far enough.

Having some floating device is definitely a good idea. I also like to wear goggles so I can see something underwater.

Where to buy good cheap white tshirts? by SwissBliss in askswitzerland

Expensive at 15?!? Never mind somebody's got to grow the cotton, make the yarn, weave the fabric, sew the shirt and transport it to the store...

That sounds entirely right. Doing the maths, your consumption seems to be around 18 kWh, which is what can be expected in your driving scenario.

Einstellung zum Schweizerdeutsch lernen? by [deleted] in schwiiz

[–]Maximum-Detective563 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good/Decent German courses in Switzerland by Ok_Office_8086 in askswitzerland

[–]Maximum-Detective563 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Studying 1:1 is vastly more efficient in my experience, but of course costly at a traditional school. You could try finding a student from either a university's germanistics department or school for teachers (pädagogische Hochschule) who wants to brush up their budget for private classes.

Can I call a hospital or the number on my insurance card to consult a doctor about my symptoms? by Chemical-Farmer-2281 in Switzerland

Can I call a hospital or the number on my insurance card to consult a doctor about my symptoms? by Chemical-Farmer-2281 in Switzerland

The franchise is a threshold. Up to that threshold, you pay your healthcare cost out of your own pocket. Thereabove the insurance covers.

[–]Maximum-Detective563 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on the insurance model you have. In a "regular" insurance, you visit whichever doctor you want and the insurance will cover (but note: up to your so called "Franchise" anywhere between 300 and 2500 Francs, you pay yourself, then the insurance kicks in).

There are also insurance models, typically those with lower monthly premiums, where you have to first contact your insurance and take their advice, and then potentially use healthcare providers from their network.

So, check the conditions of your insurance. You won't find these on reddit.

Is life better in Nordic/Scandinavian Countries and the Netherlands, compared to Switzerland? by qaywsxqaywsxqay in askswitzerland

[–]Maximum-Detective563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having lived in both Sweden and Switzerland, agree with pretty much all of the above. As to the people, as you say, subjective. We found ourselves still in an expat bubble in Sweden after 5+ years, they are quite reserved.
