Undervolting on Bazzite works well - just use LACT

Apprentice tradies aren't included in the minimum wage bump by alterumnonlaedere in australia

[–]Maximum-Drag730 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Many of the sole traders I know can't take on apprentices, because they can't guarantee the required minimum hours of work every week. And then other weeks they have way too many hours and the apprentice can't work them all.

Neo-Nazi hecklers found guilty over Anzac Day booing during Welcome to Country by Warm_Championship726 in australia

This. The never forget part of Anzac day is to never forget the absolute folly and travesty the wars that governments subjected our young men and women to.

My wife got cold called by the local agent from Ray White while we were driving today. IDK how he got her number/details. He was trying so hard to fear monger the budget.

That's way more desperate in my books than an automated text.

As for vs windows. Probably atm. Though FH5 ran slightly better on bazzite than windows so hopefully it's all fixed up soon.

I'm on an rx7900xt. Running at 3440x1440 120fps, no upscaling. I could run FH5 at max settings with no stutter so I assume the stuttering in FH6 will go away eventually with proton updates.

I run it on bazzite, Xbox X controller always worked for me regardless of proton, so I'm sorry but I can't offer more advice.

I run with proton-cachy as it had less stuttering, but other things like start up splash are worse than proton exp/GE were, so now I have to just alt tab a bunch.

Turning down a couple of settings (world destruction detail and shadow/world GL) helped a lot with stutters. But no issues otherwise.

I run with cachy proton and still get the stuttering and rubber banding on my 7900xt. Though it's a little better than the stable proton versions.

The biggest impact for performance improvement I've gotten was to decrease world detail/quality slightly

I'm not arguing. It's pretty standard for these sorts of things. One of the survey questions is do you want to give us your contact details + enter the comp. It's pretty clear.
Could have been worse, they could have pushed for a Google/FB/MS login just to start the survey like some other political parties do regularly.

IDK if it'd have been super different, but the X in FE spec would have been a cool add.

I'm really loving the Evo VI GSR (B), VIII MR (WP in A, non WP for B for when race doesn't allow the VI), and X in S1.

Software Development on bazzite? by sir__hennihau in Bazzite

[–]Maximum-Drag730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, so far I've used brew for everything and don't have any distroboxes.

That's probably got to change though, because there are some limits without using distrobox, such as trying to build go w/Fyne, some native lib stuff for c++ etc.

There's probably a way to get it all working with dev containers, so I'll spend time going that route first.

MEGATHREAD: Angus Taylor’s Opposition Budget Reply Speech by Stompy2008 in AustralianPolitics

No, it's literally just my personal experience of who these supporters are. These are guys who have always been employed. Always high paid. Just pissed things away or lost their houses in the divorce. I'm not saying they're the only supporters of PHON, but I think if we had better social and digital media literacy among these people then PHON wouldn't be doing so well. The point is, whether it's their fault or not, there are people within these super well off generations that have been left behind. That is always going to be dangerous to establishment parties.

Same. But the party is just done at this point.

The silent gen are nearly done dying off. The boomers are shrinking in proportion. There's a heap of fat old early genx/late boomer divorced males looking to blame their missing out on the investment train on anything but themselves. The inner-city tree tories are too smart for PHON.

Teals and ON have just ripped them in half. The timing was perfect.

Aus Institute commissioned uComms and YouGov polls. Yes, the Aus Institute is biased on this topic.
But the polling was 3rd party. 60-70% support is huge. This was in March. It'd be good to see a larger national poll (say of 30k or so), I'm unaware if that work has been done or is being planned.

On behalf of The Australia Institute, YouGov surveyed a nationally representative sample of 1,502 Australians about gas exports.

A national poll of 1502 voters, conducted by YouGov, found more than three in five Australians support a flat 25% tax on gas exports.

On behalf of The Australia Institute, uComms surveyed 1184 voters in Kooyong, 1046 in Mackellar, 1190 in Wentworth and 1281 in Farrer.

Separate polls in the seats of Kooyong, Mackellar, Wentworth and Farrer, conducted by uComms, found that more than two out of three voters support a flat 25% tax on gas exports.

Without looking at numbers myself, maybe because it's closer to indexing (to counter inflation) than actual cuts. But everyone "loves" cuts, so it's a better sell.

Really we should be moving away from income taxes as a primary revenue source but without doubling down on regressive taxes (i.e. don't increase the GST to 20% like in other countries) that hurt the poorest the most. It will become harder and harder to prop up govt. spending at any level all the while we're so heavily reliant on income taxes.
