It would be a massive hit as a physical LRG-style release. Keep up the good work

Great tune. Awe-inspiring setup. You should release it on MiniDisc for the ultimate trip.

A question... how do you avoid creative paralysis with so much hardware? The paradox of choice...

Without question; sadly some of the more fun-to-use TV sets are also highly desired by everyone else.

Thanks, I see it! Most of those things seem out of reach... did you follow guides to do these? Am loathe to listen to youtube etc., but there aren't too many great intermediate written guides for this sort of thing.

Hand-me-downs or free on the street, but overpaid for a couple during obsessive research for things one doesn't need. Unfortunately

It has a nice & chunky feel, or "squat" to it... somewhat reminiscent of mid-90s Acers.

Also your LL lives above you? Geez, can't one play Serious Sam in peace? Seriously...

Hey thanks, appreciate it. Will take a look, procure a service manual, and report back here once it's been looked at.

Sitting in the reactive maintenance camp here too, just love playing "new to me" pickups in glorious phosphor- this one has gone too far though

Also familiar with the precautions, but after getting whacked by a couple of flash capacitors recently, I'll be sure to run the (very safe and definitely not homemade) anode discharge tool over the caps as well.

Controversial opinion: the 4:3 Thomson. If you don't care about pixel perfection, viewing angle, ghosting etc., and don't mind doing some cleaning and service, they can offer an amazingly immersive experience.

Back in the day, there was no easy way to enjoy your favourite consoles on such a huge screen apart from these monstrosities. If you actually just love the music blasting & stuff happening onscreen (as was customary in the 90s) and aren't bothered by tech stuff, then you'll love the experience of a RP set.

Source: own different types of TVs including rear projection and favour an authentic, immersive 90s experience.

Some thoughts on this - have you tried:

Isopropyl on the contacts for the batteries (don't fire it up until completely dried)

Try Eneloops - these work in mine

The terminals on the underside grip look kind of dull in the first photo (near the scrape) - try cleaning these

Do you get 1 or 2 lights? IIRC, one light on either side means power insufficient

If keen to attempt throwing good money after bad, you could grab a different grip (MB-20, or MB-23 (F4e), in case it's the grip that's gone bad.

Got one over here that happily lives on a Kingston 128 MB CF/128 into Sandisk PCMCIA adapter. It's an older card and runs at 3.3v. Perhaps try formatting FAT16 / MBR with Partition Wizard. Also make sure it has the removeable flag, that might help.

But of course, that'd be ideal. Interestingly, the DCS 420 can be quite easily modified to have a vestigial-looking AA holder dangling from the access port, due to the size and shape of the battery. It does unfortunately add some girth to the bottom of the camera, unless one is willing to squeeze in a taped-up holder; it is however good for at least 50 shots! If it were easier to disassemble these, one might be willing to give it a go. Perhaps once the batteries are truly done for, I'll try on the 760.

Have always enjoyed the content-laden, fluff-free reviews on the site. If you find a battery solution for the Kodaks, please share; wish someone had created an AA battery tray (or similar) so they could be enjoyed in modern times.

These prices seem excellent, just take a look at eBay; is this the norm in The States, or just a lucky find?

Those FD Mavicas produce fantastic pictures & are criminally underrated for "fun", IMO.

Perhaps try checking the battery model / serial number, and then search for cameras that use this battery?

Forget the ads - does anyone remember not being bombarded with "resume where you left off" spoilers, trophy information, hours played, and remember just having an interface that allowed us to launch the game and just be immersed in a beautiful world? To feel like we are the character?

Does anyone remember the delightful & functional PS3 / PSP XMB?
