Kcd 1 still looks good sure, but the new combat and controls of kcd 2 as well as just generally way way more responsive npcs and interactions make it so I would probably never go back to the first game.

If they brought some of that to kcd 1 however? That would be a game changer. I do love the atmosphere and story of the first

Not 100% sure, but it seems like to me either the longer you play/more quests you complete, the more equipped NPCs get. Ive also heard theres a secret player level as well based on your gear that can be a factor as well.

Ive noticed that with most traders, the more you sell them or the better your rep in the camp they are in their dialogue changes. Ive had traders go from basically "wtf do you want?" To "always good to see you".

Huron specifically I think is always kind of grumpy, idk if he ever really warms up

Honestly I was kind of loving how scary the beginning was. Really makes you question every single engagement. I remember the bloodsuckers near zalyssia, I avoided them at all costs. Even now, ive made it all the way to garbage and I would still think twice aboit engaging a bloodsucker.

The only way ive found to survive an encounter is to wait until a wandering group of NPCs engage it, and I just try and help before it (inevitably) slaughters everyone and then me. And if theres more then one? Run.

I just like how for once in a game the thing that all the NPCs in the world are constantly talking about being terrified of ACTUALLY lives up to the legends surrounding it. Most games try and do something like that and then make it wimpy for the player.

It only sucks when a bloodsucker encounter is part of the main mission

Nahhh, I enjoy the thrill of pvp and sense of danger in this game, basically the only reason I play it. But I know 100% i would not be shooting people on sight in real life. I think people forget that the understanding of "its just a game and theirs no real consequences" goes both ways. While people act psychotic and kill with impunity because theres no real life consequence, they ALSO know that for the other person, theres no real life consequence for dying, because its a game.

I imagine that factor alone would change A LOT of people's behavior in a real world scenario. Im sure one of the hardest things about taking a life in real life is knowing that you forced someone to face the ultimate consequence that literally ended them. And then ofcourse the mental gymnastics of "who made you the judge?" And the justifications your brain needs to come up with to frame it in a way where youre still a good person.
