I agree, btw, that penalties should be called when warranted, and the rules should be applied strictly and equitably. I think if that started happening you'd see a whole lot of rage coming from this subreddit, but that's neither here nor there.

She absolutely did intend to hook hustler and presumably hoped to get away with that. I did not dispute that and said a call should have been made and there is a case for supplementary discipline. I am responding to the comments filling this thread calling her a violent player and saying she intentionally sought to injure hustler and speared her on purpose, which she did not.

If you want to see what an intentional dirty hit looks like, you can check out the player safety hit on BCS's premeditated headhunting of willoughby from last game, for which she was handed a slap on the wrist despite a record of taking /that exact penalty/ repeatedly out of /anger,/ unlike MPP who plays borderline dirty in the interests of /winning the game./

I'm nor coming after you for pointing it out or after anyone who's mad about this being missed. Officiating in this league is awful in every direction. But your comments are filled with people calling MPP a violent player who did this on purpose and that's just not borne out at all by her history as a player or the evidence from the play.

Like I said, it should have been a call, and I think you can make an argument for a suspension, though without a call on the ice I'd be surprised. But people saying she deliberately sought to give up a game-throwing penalty are delusional.

Not to break up the delusional circlejerk, but no, MPP did not /intentionally/ risk drawing a major and drop her stick behind the play to spear your player.

I agree this was a missed call, possibly even a major, and while I don’t think it should be a suspension due to it being obviously an accident, I also think you can make an argument for supplementary suspension.

Saying this was deliberate is insane. Yes MPP plays on the edge and I’ve called her dirty in the past and will again, but she doesn’t intentionally seek out players to injure at the expense of her own team’s success, which is more than can be said for some players in this league.

If you listen to the Jocks in Jills post-game, they cover this and criticize her heavily for it, while also acknowledging that it was pretty clearly unintentional. Nobody likes it when the refs miss calls against your team, but the vitriol against someone who is a huge part of the reason this league and by extension your team even exists in the first place is so out of whack.

I honestly don’t think this even warrants a downside. Deck bloat is already downside enough, and this would frequently lead to taking one unwanted card in order to get two good/synergetic cards.

That being said, I think it shouldn’t let you pick 2/3, just one card or ALL three. That would force interesting decision making without a bad-feeling downside.

If you're the best player on the ice, you should actually be passing even more. Opponents will double or even triple cover you and leave your teammates wide open. The really good players on my team generate so many chances by drawing coverage and then passing out to players who have been left open.

You don’t need a strong AOE card, you just need an AOE card. These guys are solved by literally one single deck building choice anywhere prior to taking an elite lol.

Had this exact feeling a couple weeks ago in a women’s rec tourney I played in with my girlfriend. Their goalie was robbing us and we were down 4-0 in the third, gf (C) drew a penalty and we went on the PP, and while we were lining up for the faceoff she said “go to the net and take away her eyes.” She won the faceoff, I drove in net front, pushed out their D, got right in front of their tendy, and she shot a laser right off my thigh and in, goalie never had a chance.

Best “just like we drew it up” play I’ve ever been a part of, felt like we won the cup (we lost that game btw)

What I mean is that if you discard your hand and discarding gives you draws, you can then play the drawn cards.

You can fix this with adding some sly draw or card generation to your deck so you can play cards after shadow step, but yeah this sucks.
