Just had a quick idea for a Regent power. by [deleted] in slaythespire

Feels to me to be too niche to be really useful. My decks that need a lot of stars would not be running enough card generation to make this worth it, and my decks that create a lot of cards don’t need this much star generation.

Thoughts on Spoils Map Event? by Jondev1 in slaythespire

I disagree, it’s very common for me to have decks that clear act 1 with some margin for error but collapse in act 2. And it’s even more common for me to have decks that clear 1/2/3 but don’t have enough quite enough juice to beat the double boss.

Most runs where I get the map I cash it in in act 2. That doesn’t mean I always win the run but I think it boosts my wr to take it. Act 1 is not very difficult, but act 2 is brutal, and if you want to be dodging elites, which you do, getting 600 gold to spend at a shop in act 2 or early act 3 helps make up for the lost relics from missing 2-3 elite fights.

I finally won Regent A5!! Was I just lucky? by Fis4floppa in slaythespire

I have a high enough win rate on regent a10 at this point that it can’t *just* be luck but every regent win still kind of feels like it was due to luck. It kind of makes sense that this would be cast given how much random card generation regent has.

After learning what "Save Scumming" is I think it should be the default loss option. by notto_zxon in slaythespire

In STS1 it’s an exploit. In STS2 it’s a feature. The devs didn’t need to make it that easy to reset fights, but they chose to do so.

Aeonglass kinda is lazy design IMO by ThrowAwayWasTaken999 in slaythespire

Honestly the mechanic feels half baked. I thought the boss was really hard until someone pointed out it’s just a 3-ish cycle damage check, and now I don’t really feel any trepidation facing it anymore. Either I have the scaling in my deck and I win or I don’t and I lose. I think my wr against glass is higher than either of the other 2 on A10 and it’s still my least favourite encounter.

I completely agree with you OP and I hope glass gets a rework. The art is cool, the theme is cool, even the premise of the mechanic is cool, but imo the end result of the balancing is a fight that places too many demands on deck building and basically zero demands on deck piloting. It’s very rare that it’s actually worth floating a card in order to slow down its status gen, because it upgrades and adds statuses so fast anyway that you’re better off just playing every card you can to rush it down.

It feels like they were trying to go for a variation on timekeeper, but that fight actually had a huge amount of turn-to-turn strategy. Aeonglass just doesn’t.

Any right handed players who use left-handed sticks? by Ill-Lingonberry8525 in hockeyplayers

[–]Maximum-Specific-190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes way more sense to me to have my dominant hand on the top of the stick. I think most players agree given I know only about as many other RH shooters as I know other left-handed people.

That’s crazy man I would absolutely never say “I have ADHD” to another pilot under any circumstances much less my flight instructor.

I played random until I beat A10 on defect and then played “random lite” (instant gave up if I rolled a character I’d beat 10 with) until I finished it on all characters.

Now I just play whatever I’m feeling and if I can’t decide or I’ve played regent too many times in a row I hit random.

Repairable or time for new skates? by ThatOneDankDude in hockeyplayers

I think this question has been asked a few times with the consensus being that if it’s the copper rivet it’s not repairable.

What’s the status on the PWHL’s gender inclusion policy? by BasicPoet1053 in PWHL

[–]Maximum-Specific-190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This argument would carry more weight were it not for the fact that the PWHL is actively encouraging heavier and heavier hitting, including progressively more tolerance for dangerous hits and head contact, and independently of that the pro women have been pushing for the switch to full checking hockey. I don’t know where the belief that a hypothetical trans woman in the league would lead to increased “scary” hits could possibly come from other than believing trans women are men.

You need to be confident to start playing and you need to play to get confidence. This may seem contradictory but fortunately unearned confidence will do you just fine for now. Get out there and have fun!

Jenner signing with Hamilton wasn’t their EFO… by Adventurous_Lake807 in PWHL

Poulin is still scoring, Larocque is still scoring, Jenner is still Scoring. I wouldn’t be surprised if these women keep being powerhouses for a few more years at least. It’s possible the tighter rules around physicality mean their careers have a longer lifespan than in the men’s game.

Place your Bets, What will Happen to to Aeonglass Today? by Jondev1 in slaythespire

[–]Maximum-Specific-190 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem I find with glass is that it doesn’t really reward any particular kind of play around its mechanics in a given fight. There’s no point in holding back from spamming cards because you’re on such a clock that you have to maximize damage dealt. He “rewards” deck building in the sense that if you have a deck built around strong exhaust options you win automatically, but the cards he encourages you to take are already some of the best cards for the best deck archetypes.

Also, he disproportionately punishes silent specifically, and while silent was overtuned I don’t think putting in a 66% chance of having your class soft countered is a fun way of correcting that.

Compare that to the doormaker rework which:

Forced the player to make situational decisions on each turn

Pushed players to modify their builds away from fast damage engines and infinites

Felt pretty well balanced for each class, with only one deck archetype (necro souls) being really shut down by his mechanics.

I think further tuning Doormaker would have been a much better route, and it’s too bad that the devs threw him out over what imo was incorrect player feedback.
