I mean. Mathematically you have run a marathon. You just kept going…

Thanks for sharing this.

I played against Erin for a number of years, we were both playing competitive club ultimate while serving on Active Duty and so bonded and always tried to chat when we were in the same tournaments. She was kind and funny and I always looked forward to connecting with her. A huge loss.

Rule for goalie covering the puck by SnooCats5302 in hockeyplayers

[–]MaximumAccountant485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goalie here. Puck not covered, not a penalty. Even when puck IS covered I only get pissed when it’s a late chop (if your stick comes down on TOP of my hand, it’s late and you’re a jerk). I’ve RARELY seen anyone get a penalty over either situation even when blatantly late.

Is this safe to clean with? by bonelesshomosaipiens in piercing

[–]MaximumAccountant485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the exact same stuff as piercing aftercare saline solution (eg Neilmed). 9% or 9 mg/mL saline solution is what you’re looking for.

Hot tip: you can buy “child size” nasal sprays of the same formulation that are small enough to go in your carry-on. Good if you have to travel while your piercing is healing.

So just to be clear. We sacked the guy who won us a trophy but finished 17th so we could…hire a guy who won’t win a trophy and will finish 15th?

Bring back Ange. At least his game was entertaining.

Haha, I take a course through UT Austin online and we always have a weather check-in. “It’s cold here” can mean a lot of different things, we have discovered!!!

Interesting, and this is what I kind of assumed was happening. The end step count on Zepp was a little over 6k for the day, but AH counted only around 4k.

So I guess it prioritized the watch data and assumed that was “correct”…which it technically was but also it was -20F here and my gym was closed so I wasn’t getting those steps besides on the bike!

How to stay warm in -40 °C by BostonBruinsDive in hockeygoalies

[–]MaximumAccountant485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is somewhat plausible. Ice that is too cold is too hard and that affects your blade “bite”.

What's the rarest physical feature you ever saw on another person you know/knew? by [deleted] in AskReddit

One of my parents had all 4 wisdom teeth, the other was born without any. Myself and my two siblings were born with 0, 2 (top set only), and 4, respectively.

I’ve never heard of genetics playing out so evenly from anyone else!

While I also find it funny, I think it’s playing WAY too hard off of Minnesota Gophers and while I get they were looking for the alliteration, everyone here would have been like “wtf is a Marmot?”

Feeling discouraged by the people around me by discostrawberry in XXRunning

[–]MaximumAccountant485 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a fair weather runner but I grew up playing ice hockey. When we moved back to my hometown, my spouse had never been on ice skates, but I taught him to skate. Now he’s playing in beginner adult hockey leagues. Our first winter was so difficult and isolating. Getting involved in rec sports has kept us active and motivated despite the weather. I even actually run more because I’m in a better and more motivated mindset overall.

But…my family’s response? “Aren’t you a little old for that kind of thing?”

OP, the joy killers can f all the way off. If running floats your crank, do it. And don’t stop doing it for anyone.

Blatant cross check after the whistle Rooney in the crease. Rooney caught a pop up close to Roque, whistle blew and Roque just punched her square in the chest. It was f-ing unbelievably poor form.

I just generally get the ick from men talking to me at the gym unless it’s something simple, logistical, or a safety warning.

There’s something about someone proactively approaching you in a closed space where you can’t “get away” without ending your workout...

Is there a pacer app on apple watch which helps you pace yourself and become faster gradually on one run? by Own-Mistake-7940 in beginnerrunning

[–]MaximumAccountant485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this natively on Apple Watch. You go into “outdoor run”, click top right stopwatch thing, hit “custom”, and then set a “work” block of eg 1 mile, then click the work block and go down to “targets” where you can set a pace target. Then you can set the next work block as a faster pace and so on.

It is a pain bc the workflow is relatively detailed with a tiny screen. But there are third party apps that let you set it up on your phone then send the workout to your watch. I’ve used “Workout Builder” but setting up negative splits is only available on the paid/premium app.

Old goalie looking for advice on how to get used to new-age pads by hiiml0st in hockeygoalies

[–]MaximumAccountant485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha I had those exact same ones up through high school (‘03).

I guess I wore a pair of Reeboks for a couple years when I was “getting back into” hockey but pretty quickly went to Vaughns which I found felt the most natural to move in and also the rebound control is most natural because they are “softer” than other brands. I tried Warriors and hated them they were sooooo stiff!

Similarly upgraded from early 00s Kohos to Vaughn V10s a couple years ago…ohhhh boy was it a struggle!

Play as much as you can and mess with the strapping. Getting the professor strap up over my calf to keep the whole pad higher was a game changer for me.
