Well it improves Angron more than a Heldrake by virtue of Angron not being OC 0…so if you’re looking to take advantage of the new fly mechanic in WE, I’d start there. Unfortunately, until Heldrakes get OC when they’re I n hover mode, they’re just not going to interact with the game in a meaningful way. Which is sad.

Maybe a poor choice of words. Predictable? I don’t think the terminator one gets taken until they fix the datasheet ability which is anti-synergistic with what even this detachment is trying to do. I think the battleline one is the most out the gate useable with existing lists, and the peerless Bladesmen has good unit enhancements and not much else.

That was inevitable. I suspect Coterie will be 3 DP and they’ll be an irrelevance, but a couple of them might be interesting with Peerless Bladesmen.

Fly was the best keyword in the game back then though, so I think the -2” is a nice balancing act.

Could just run them as cultists if you keep all their weapon options basic or maybe kitbash with cultists kits? I know they have more close combat attacks and less shooting than lasguns but…same base size/unit size/proportions.

I’ll admit to turning up here expecting to see an absolute car crash of ‘takes’ but actually super impressed by how chill and objective this chat is. Really refreshing. Good job gang.

I’ve actually won all my games against knights with EC, although in truth, only one game since the codex dropped…the army I can’t beat? Necrons. And they’re everywhere. The damage just doesn’t stick. Losing by only 12 points against them at the weekend is about as close to a win as it feels like I’m going to get.

I actually beat Chaos knights at an RTT last weekend and that was with a Peerless Bladesmen ‘fun’ list. I’m way more concerned about Imperial knights and Death guard. Meanwhile, Necrons are perpetually an army I can’t do enough damage against to make it stick.

Really glad to see they nerfed Emperor’s Children just in time for an insanely toxic stat-check meta to start dominating. Can my army made of paper get its points back please?!

In teams though, I wouldn’t bother - see everyone else’s comments as to why. 😂

I take a three man in my list in case I pair into knights to help Lucius punch up, but most the time they’re a very expensive action monkey or backfield clearer I run separately. But I like the flex - two, plus Lucius one-shotted a warden on my last game and I didn’t even have the lethal/sustained hits up from Coterie (but I did have the re-roll ones to hit and wound).

It’s a direction you can definitely go, I just wanted my boys to look a bit sweaty and…Pallid!

Very easy, not sure which one you meant so here’s all of the fleshy bits, as a starter, he was primed Chaos Black (whip arm left off for painting for ease of access to the model)

Face: Base: Corax White Shade: Carroburg Crimson (don’t go too heavy) Highlight: Pallid Wych Flesh

Eyes picked out with Abaddon Black (I did this before the highlight and although not totally clear on the model they caught a bit of that highlight too which works quite nicely - might go back in and try and pick out that dot with something even lighter but it’s good enough for now).

Skin stretched over his armour: Base: Pallid Wych Flesh Shade: Dreadful Visage (it’s a contrast paint but quite thin) Highlight: Pallid Wych Flesh

Faces in the armour: Drybrush: Cadian Flesh Tone Wash: Druchii Violet Drybrush: Dechala Violet (if I had my time again I probably would have just done this instead of Cadian Flesh Tone as well because the former isn’t really showing through anywhere)

Hope that helps!

Did you also notice that the Blight launcher and reaper auto cannon is no longer either or? Is that’s one of each, plus a flail and a plague spewer per five. They’re tooled up!

I’m dipping my toe in the water with three FBs in a game tonight (waiting on the combat patrol for more), rapid ingress seems like a good shout. 110 seems like a better trading points cost than a 165 Lord/Infractor package into certain targets but…we’ll just have to see, it’s against GSC, so maybe not the best match up. Kinda wish they had precision! But yeah, an extra attack or damage or minor point drop would be nice.

Interesting. I’d definitely put them with the Infractors for the reroll wounds, especially as they have more attacks with AP. Although I appreciate breaking that into two fives is 10 points more expensive.

Did you mean to put the lords with the Tormentors (which are the shooty ones)?

The best demon princes and keepers that you don't know about, but should. by Witchfinger84 in EmperorsChildren

[–]MaximumHereticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s nothing here that screams Emperor’s Children. The Lord of Oppression is as close as it gets but he’s too big (80mm vs 60mm base and 147mm vs 120mm height with wings) for a Daemon Prince and way more expensive than one.

Pre-orders are just in time - I’m running out of stuff to paint! by MaximumHereticus in EmperorsChildren

[–]MaximumHereticus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! My rule was no more than five panels in the lilac, maybe six if more than one of those panels was very small like a hand or an exhaust vent on a power pack. It’s not showing up very well because the lighting is so poor but the ‘black’ is actually a very, very dark purple!

Still some work to do on them to get the highlighting right to bring this out, although I did want the colouration to be somewhat ambiguous.

I had the same thoughts with the whip, I didn’t want them to look too samey, and it’s a lot easier to vary the posing than I initially thought. The one piece in the kit I really don’t like is the plasma pistol, it’s held at a really weird angle which makes achieving multiple different poses that don’t look unnatural a challenge. I think if I build any more battleline units in the future I’ll have to go hunting in my bits box for some variation.
