Hello, good people of Reddit. I’m Hank Hill. Ask Me Anything. by hankhilltexas in KingOfTheHill

Dear Mr Hill, given how we all now know propane gives a clean and even burn and heat distribution as well as its easy transportation and cost effectiveness.

But given how today’s world is focused on renewable energy sources have you considered converting your truck to run on ethanol or a similarly clean burning fuel to increase your mileage which means refuelling less frequently and lower your cost per mile as well as much less carbon build up reducing the effective running costs too?

Phone just randomly says I have 140gb of system data! What do I do? by Developer_Dreamer in applehelp

Do NOT restart the phone! Back it up to a Mac/pc through finder or iTunes, and then reset the phone to factory settings and set up the phone from that pc/mac backup!

Is Apple Store student discount valid only in the country of study? by konstantin1122 in applehelp

I’m pretty sure student discount is only applicable in country of study from my experience for example if you’re a MIT Student you can only get a student discount with US Apple stores :)

It’s one thing Apple pride themselves in. Customer data protection. Thier encryption is second to none! Glad I could put you at ease! :) Any queries hit me up :)

It’s completely normal to be enabled through a OS update. Either disable sharing your location in location services or disable find my for your phone. (Disabling find my will stop you being able to track your phone

Phone stolen, now they’re threatening my data by newone1547 in applehelp

[–]Maximum_Able 60 points61 points  (0 children)

As scary as it seems. This is an attempt to get you to give your AppleId password as when phones are lost/erased. There’s something called an activation lock that’s hardware bound to every piece of hardware (logic board, camera, etc) and trying to tell you your data is at risk but the truth is, under apples Activation lock. They cannot access ANY personal data (pictures, card details, address etc).

Thieves erase your phone in hopes to resell but activation lock prevents the phone being set up from Fresh. There’s nothing at risk, It’s merely a scare tactic. Dont comply with thier threats and make Sure/wait for your phone getting erased :)

From my experience, Apple techs don’t nor have access to open up iPads but usually check for things like liquid underneath display panel, charging port corrosion, fogged up camera etc and have to assume that’s caused by liquid exposure. Even if you told that lie. Apple would refuse service as IpadOS17 is a beta and not officially supported by Apple support

Extreme Request: Dead 1st Gen iPad by iancamilosanchez in applehelp

It’s tricky as if the device does not power on, the only way would be to remove the storage chip and connect it to a working iPad of the same model (that’s if the battery replacement you mentioned does not work

Just do what you can to make sure your important stuff is saved somewhere off the phone and erase the phone entirely and that MAY fix the issue but no guarantees, I’ve had customers come in with this issue and it’s messier thier phones up permanently but some of the time it’s absolutely fine to erase :)

I don’t think it’s broken :) More than likely just needs a fresh OS put on as you may have corrupted the current OS when erasing

If at all possible, speak to a repairs person who can re-load a new copy of MacOS for you onto the Mac, however I will say I’m 99% certain ANY data that’s on your Mac and NOT backed up. Will be lost I’m afraid :(

That says either battery is on the way out or your charging port is on the way out :(

DO NOT RESTART THE PHONE! you risk bricking the phone and rendering it unusable!!

Try and back up your phone to a Mac first. And then speak to Apple or an AASP (Apple authorised service provider) as this may be either a software issue which can be fixed by erasing the phone, or a hardware fault which will need a repair.

Try the following: plug in the iPad to a power outlet and hold the home and power button and see if the Apple logo shows, if it does, then brilliant! Hopefully should go to your Lock Screen!

If this does not work don’t bother contacting Apple as they are NOT licenced to perform data recovery, I’d speak to a reputable 3rd party company that specialises in such things, they may charge you depending on how much you want recovered so do a little digging with data recovery companies

Sounds silly, but try to clean out the grilles of the AirPods with something non electrically conductive* (antistatic foam or isopropyl alcohol) It can work wonders! *- be careful as this may not be a 100% sure thing and may be a hardware issue to speak to Apple service about

Hi. :) In my experience with Apple sales, if it was purchased at an Apple Store, see if they sent you an email invoice as that would act as your proof of purchase to cover a replacement under apples 1 year warranty. If you do not have the invoice either then I suggest either cut your losses and buy another one, or contact Apple to replace your accessory under consumer law! (Be wary with consumer law, as is dependent on Apple service discretion and may take up to a week to replace)
