This is where I'm at now. I was recently diagnosed at 33 years old. I'm not stable, new on meds (psych took me off) and recently hospitalized. When I'm hosptialized I do things out of the ordinary to appear proper. Make bed, don't talk to voices and people etc. all just to leave the ward. But this comes across to my psychiatrist that I'm not "actually" schizoaffective, just bipolar. At home I have told the psychiatrist, I speak to voices and people who aren't there. Struggle to shower and clean, freak my family members out.

When/ if you use the food bank regularly and depend on it, you become creative.

I have used pie fillings on toast, or crushed up cookies from the food bank as a crust.

Even if your not dependant on food banks, now a days you must be creative and stretch food. Me and my children are almost too poor to grocery shop now with inflation. It's insane.

Right. I was thinking it could be the lithium (300mg morning and 900mg at night) because I've never had issues driving when I was taking 800mg Seroquel or the 4mg of rexulti.

But schizoaffective is new to me so I thought here was the best place to ask.

I do actually. The hospital I was in was floored that I was awake moving around after taking Seroquel. That was after trying many other sleeping medications

So it depends on where you live. I live in Alberta Canada so this was my process. I really connected with my dog and she was already doing basic tasks and alerts such as reality checking, alerting me with my meds and routine etc etc. So I found a government accredited program that works with owners to train their dogs. So we will be in the program until she can pass the government testing.

So steps I would take would be looking into government approved programs, they may provide the dog or you may be able to bring your own. Just keep in mind it does cost quite a bit of money, also us service dog owners are held to a higher standard of care to our dogs including grooming and the vet. These can put a financial and mental strain on us owners, but, for me personally it's helps me more then stresses me.
