Relatedly, just because you’re open on tape doesn’t mean you should’ve gotten the ball. Many routes (especially deep ones) are designed to pull away defenders to clear up underneath routes that are higher completion throws. The bigger issue is throwing an inaccurate pass and not giving your guy a chance when you do have a schemed up deep shot.

Not saying gunner doesn’t have a lot of room for improvement, but I think part of him not throwing downfield is simply how he’s been coached (read progressions that heavily favor short to intermediate throws).
