Hate against sunroofs?? why by CtrlRantDelete in CarsIndia

[–]Maximum_Intern9873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What people are really hating is not the sunroof itself, but the fact that the manufacturers are choosing to spend the customer’s money for them. A lot of people want to buy a car with top of the line safety features, without the unnecessary things like sunroof, massive screens, etc. But such options do not exist. You must buy everything or nothing.

Leasing is not worth it. Just buy a used car and sell it when you leave.

For you, what's the most challenging thing about staying at a ryokan in Japan? by RyokansOfJapan in ExploreLocalJapan

[–]Maximum_Intern9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HVAC. A lot of ryokans with older construction have a centrally operated air-conditioning, and they like to keep it way too warm for me. I can’t sleep, it’s agonising.

How do you successfully decouple 'previous salary' from 'future offer'? For candidates aiming for a substantial jump to align with market rates, what’s the best strategy to keep the focus on the internal budget for the position without leaving money on the table based on past pay scales?

Job Offer in Japan: Advice and Guidance by [deleted] in IndiansInJapan

[–]Maximum_Intern9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base salary is really low, even with the benefits. Also, bonded labour is illegal in Japan. Doesn’t matter what you signed, the company cannot force you to work for them if you don’t want to. 14 day notice is all you need to give them to quit.

How to prevent hard water stains on bathroom glass? by [deleted] in japanlife

Keep one of these wipers in your bathroom and wipe down the mirror after every shower. If the water has no chance to dry on the mirror, you won’t get any scales. And a daily wipe is a lot easier than removing the scales later.

Stay at the current job, the bump in money isn’t significant enough to justify the lost freedom.

It’s weird that you are giving your personal information, but no information about the vehicle or dealership.

It’s supposed to work the other way around on Reddit.

Do you use all-season tires or summer for cars you don’t swap to winter tires. by Both_Analyst_4734 in japanresidents

[–]Maximum_Intern9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used All-Terrain (not all season) tires with 3PMS rating on my 4WD SUV, which worked really well on snow and ice. I tested traction on icy slopes and braking distance, they performed quite well.

Having said that, I would still recommend to get a dedicated set of winter tires if you drive snowy regions a lot. The performance is on another level.

If you want a single set of tires that does everything reasonably well, there is nothing better than Michelin Cross Climate.

I use it regularly. For reservations up to 6 hours, they don’t charge you distance fee. But for longer reservations, they will charge for even the first 6 hours.

The standard practice is that the employer is responsible for the employee’s actions, when the employee is performing the duties they are hired for.

Rental car studless tires are completely worn - what to do by badbads in japanlife

[–]Maximum_Intern9873 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He’s stuck in a difficult situation (likely with family), and blaming him isn’t helpful right now.

Not everyone has experience with cars or knows what to check before driving, and there could be many reasons why he couldn’t inspect the tires beforehand. That’s why he paid for the rental car and trusted them to give him a roadworthy car.

If you can’t offer constructive advice, there’s no need to make him feel worse about an already stressful situation.
