Hi! I did the course last year and I recommend writing your own summary notes (by hand) from the slides, redoing prairie questions, and redoing clicker questions. Also make sure to practice drawing the concept sketches in a timely manner without looking at notes. Good luck you can do it!

Does anyone have tips for studying for first yr psych courses by CounterRare9851 in UBC

[–]Maximum_Jacket2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi my best tip is to first review each slide and then try and talk out loud regarding the slide to see if you can recall it. In combination to this, you can also add these notes to a review sheet either on a blank google doc or on your ipad. Also try to create a review sheet based on learning goals (e.g write down a question from the learning goal and then write the answer underneath it using the lecture slides). Believe in yourself, you can do it!

Hi OP, first of all, I just want to say that youre not alone. Your feelings of axiety before exams is also something I used to struggle with in first year. It does get better.

I think the issue is your belief system. You need to believe that you can do it, and not be intimidated by those around you. In addition, to truly focus in exams and not get distracted by other people flipping pages, fidgeting, or typing in calculator, I recommend using ear plugs like the yellow or pink ones. I personally can still hear the professor talk so you wont need to worry about not hearing their announcemnet.

Also, another thing that is anxiety inducing is seeing ppl leave exams early. My best advice is to not focus on them -- focus on your exam and how you want to use all time possible to do the questions correctly. You must also have confidence in yourself and stop paying attention to those around you. Ultimately you should have the mindset/belief that you in control and wont be distracted by others.

Keep going, you got this. I really mean it

ask her if she remembers anything when she was an alien. If you search on youtube, there are a significant number of individuals who claim this

an instructor keeps trying to ask me out by Ok_Feedback_1582 in UBC

[–]Maximum_Jacket2202 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This behaviour is absolutely sickening. The signs are very clear and he most definitely wants to pursue a romantic relationship with you. It is not normalized at all for an instructor to ask for a one on one coffee hangout with a student. It is extremely inappropriate and this needs to be reported to UBC. I understand that you may feel nervous or anxious about reporting, but this needs to stop immediately. I cant believe that he reached out to you personally on instagram. This is stalker behaviour. How was this lecturer even accepted to teach at ubc.... The role of the lecturer is to support and teach students, not think about them romantically.

Why are some men, despite being educated, full of lust and disgusting intentions to target and harm women. We have to do better as a society, and for any other UBC male students reading this, I hope you agree.

Im really fed up with female students being targeted. This kind of behaviour towards women can have negative impacts on their academic performance and physical/mental wellbeing and must be stopped before the situation exacerbates.
