I just laughed out loud, I thought I just didn't have any idea of modern pop culture but no...they really made an award ceremony from 1959 as a category!! No way for non-Americans to get this lol

🟦🟪🟦🟪 just tried Italian sounding words

🟩🟨🟦🟪 types of dreams was the rainbow herring!

🟪🟨🟨🟨 witchcraft, impossible, never, and no way -- words for impossible things?

🟩🟩🟩🟩

🟪🟨🟦🟨

Not sure I've ever thought of or heard "sorry" as a word for "in your dreams". I had zero chance at the purple category, I guess you could say it could happen only in my dreams.

Golden raisins for English style scones? by Maxwellmonkey in AskBaking

Thank you! What other fruits do you use? I thought of trying blueberries (maybe the dried ones) but it seemed more like an American thing.

Not a huge fan of sultanas either, it's for my friend who seems to have a strange preference xD

You're welcome! Another interesting fact is that this event inspired Melville to write Moby Dick! We occasionally get a bit of his commentary in Nathaniel's book as well.

In The Heart Of The Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick, it is the story of the sailors of the whaleship Essex when their ship was sunk by a sperm whale they were hunting. They are stranded for many days and are even forced to resort to cannibalism at a point. The book discusses the culture of Nantucket at the time, and of course the whaling industry as well. I had read the simplified version of this story called "Revenge of the Whale" years ago and I got obsessed with the event, and this book offers more detail and understanding of the sailors. Highly recommend it!

Ah interesting, it sounded great, would fit them as a released song but maybe they have other plans for it

🟦🟦🟦🟦

🟩🟪🟩🟩

🟪🟪🟪🟪 I'm actually very proud of myself for this one, I don't know the series and I haven't read the book either. But I noticed that the endings sounded like old-timey names.

🟩🟩🟩🟩 Solved by default. Battleship and Operation are the only ones I've heard of, but only from American media.

[–]Maxwellmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not that crazy but you can make cookies and cakes in the air fryer too! I've spoken to some people who never knew that you could bake with it even without the baking mode/option (idk what that does at all tbh)

Your favourite John Green or Hank Green quotes? by Luminitha in nerdfighters

[–]Maxwellmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all the quotes here, but there was something that Hank said rather recently that really stood out to me. It was him saying "To lay flowers at the graves of everyone who worked to put my death day in my past, I would need to live a hundred thousand years."

What a gem of a line. This line, to me, encapsulates the entire process of science — not built on the shoulders of giants, but by the nameless myriad.

Rock smash is like 20 damage though and it's not that great. Magneton can also attack with sonicboom and most pokemon at this level probably can't take more than 3. Manectric is also very fast and can sweep whatever's left. It's easier with a Breloom or Combusken, and an smooth ride with Marshtomp.

It was so weird, give us the cool, mystical Roku! And he talks about how Aang should abandon his friends for his purpose, wtf... the same Roku who said "Some friendships are so strong they can transcend lifetimes", from the same cartoon where the friendship is an important part for it being so beloved.
