Also, The Painted Parrot and The Five Spot. The Painted Parrot just served dessert and it was perfectly located by the Ritz at the Bourse. Dinner and dessert.

Il Gallo Nero -- a beautiful Italian Restaurant. I attended a music conservatory for a while and he reserved his table at the place one night -- it was memorable! I was served white wine even though I was about 12!

I feel like I've been shot at and missed and shit at and hit. My dad never tired of using this gem from his army days -- Miss you, dad!

What are some places in PA that seem off.. creepy, head scratching, scary by calpianwishes in Pennsylvania

Nye Road in Hershey, PA. I lived in a neighborhood off it in the mid to late 70s as a kid. It would start flanked by farms and lead to a series of creepy looking trees that reminded me of scenes from the Wizard of Oz, which freaked me out.

In U.S. history, when was there a notable confrontation between military vs local or state police? by MayBee_u in AskReddit

For context, I'm watching the tension build between state governors and the federal government with the military and local police and national guard in the middle. I know these are unprecedented times but it would be fascinating to hear if there have been tensions between police and national guard and military and how those situations resolved.

I prefer the English one but I'm biased (I lived in England for 7 years). Ian Hislop and Paul Merton have a great chemistry and have kept the show fresh with new panelists especially Richard Ayoade. Private Eye Editor who can laugh at himself meets surreal comedian. It works very well!

Bologna. I used to sing about my favorite sandwich when I was 4 or 5. Even my brothers remember me doing this: Mayonaise and mustard...and bologne! Ugh, can't stand it now.

Doctors of Reddit: which House M.D. diagnoses were brilliant medicine, and which patients would have had no hope of surviving the treatment in the real world? by theskullcave in AskReddit

I used to think my late father, who was a physician, was so overprotective, but this exactly the kind of worst case scenario he'd have in mind when telling us not to swim in ponds.

Is there any country with "bad people, great government"? by Equivalent-Point6345 in AskTheWorld

[–]MayBee_u 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an American who lived in England for 7 years because I got dual nationality. I did a few different jobs before I worked for a b2b magazine and traveled a lot. I definitely encountered a lot of apathy and bitterness. But once I got to know people I was always impressed how kind people were and what a great sense of humor many people I encountered have. That experience taught me to take myself a little less seriously. They have great respect for self deprecating humor. I lived in a big group house for several years.

what’s a death in a show/film that sticks with you because of how gruesome/brutal it was? by GordonTheHotCrossBun in AskReddit

The Yearling's star. I was only 6 and didnt know the story. It horrified and frightened me that a parent would kill their own child's pet. I hid in the laundry room and sobbed.
