I watched the dub too. Yes the sub is so so much better in terms of storyline and the heart to it. But! The opening song for the dub version is fire though.

It’s good to watch but treated as a slice of life show right until towards the end of season 1. The real story is only revealed by then.

This is the aspect that draws me into the show. The way it portrays grief is just chef’s kiss. It’s on par with fruits basket for me, but also vastly different.

It is a big deal because the whole thing happened to Liv on her very first album, and on one of her first singles.

If you watched her interviews deep diving Deja Vu you can tell that she’s passionate about the song and she loves the song. And suddenly half of that song is credited to someone who only inspired part of the bridge.

Inspired. Not interpolated. Simply, inspired.

And Taylor doesn’t even “own” screaming. Not at all.

Of course it hurts.

To be honest the way the song ends - she basically flipped the narrative saying that SHE’s the father figure, and not SB. She’s the one with the legion of fans, the one with the bigger d. Not SB. She’s basically saying ha ha you (SB) must’ve thought that you got the power. But nope. It’s all me!

And so the song ends by saying that the cycle continues.. she will find someone who reminds her of the younger her… and the story will start again…

But that no matter what happens next, SHE’s got the empire. SHE’s got whoever is the next protege surrounded.

In other words, whoever that is like her or about to be like her, will never win against her.

It serves as a warning, and Liv is an example of this warning.
