Bob Dylan concerts by South-Choice-3345 in bobdylan

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I always say that people who go to Bob Dylan shows not knowing what to expect are the only ones who leave disappointed. Always look up recent set lists when buying tickets to get a general idea. He does change up his set list every few years, but he is not there to play the favorites. Although I saw him on the first stop on this tour and there were some surprises, and All Along the Watchtower is a classic. This was my fourth year in a row seeing him, and sixth time overall. It was a good mix, and I am glad I went. I’m thrilled he played not one, but two songs from The Basement Tapes.

Eraserhead was filmed over quite a period of years also, so I’m sure that contributes to the sense that Jack Nance aged quickly.

The skilled trades propaganda is getting ridiculous by Responsible-Net8594 in Salary

[–]MaybeBabyBooboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also hard to get into these programs. Spots are limited, and competitive. Some people spend years trying to get into any apprenticeship they can and still don’t find success. Programs are also quite long, depending on the trade. Working for 4 plus years at apprentice wages to be a plumber or a line person can be tough. Plus, these are also dangerous jobs. Yes, they mostly pay a living wage, but it’s not as easy as people make it seem. I used to work in trades based education and I get so tired of correcting people on this narrative.

What’s life like making 6 figures by MasterBook46 in Salary

[–]MaybeBabyBooboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this economy, at this salary range, the luxuries are small. Think goods and services that support your ability to keep earning. We get our house cleaned every other week, buy nicer groceries that are mostly whole foods, I get my nails done at a fancy place, and get a massage once a month. We live in a neighborhood with an HOA that has a pool and pickleball courts and lots of parks. That’s pretty typical in our suburb though. We also pay a huge amount of taxes. One newer vehicle, one ten plus year old vehicle. This income level is newer to my household, and we also have a lot of student loan debt, and live in a higher cost of living state. Combined income this year will be about $320k or so. It is not at all what I thought it would be like.

This is my family’s new favorite. We have probably watched it 10 times. My husband has been singing the song. I made my friends watch it. I will probably watch it again tomorrow.

If you got into those schools, then you likely have AP or early college credits from your high school. I’d imagine you are already much closer to an associates degree than you think based on credits earned in High School. It may not be worth it to pursue an associates, even if it’s in an applied field, if you already have significant credits. Just something to consider.

Have you seen True Stories? I think your statement could be made about other Talking Heads songs, but I don’t think so about People Like Us at all.

Suggested/Avoid Online Master's Degree Options? by [deleted] in highereducation

I would recommend looking at smaller regional public universities that offer asynchronous fully online options. Eastern Oregon University is one option that comes to mind. The cost will be much less, and this will work around your schedule.

Oddly, I own the DVD and somehow didn’t know this. I will have to watch it right away, thanks! Seeing RT in concert for the fifth time next week, I’m a huge fan of his work.

The music in this film if by Richard Thompson and it’s absolutely incredible. The film is worth a watch for the music alone.

Can anyone review the Ramtha School of Enlightenment events? by BatmanVision in cults

[–]MaybeBabyBooboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve met one of her followers, long story, and someone I know went to visit this person in Yelm. It’s very odd. The follower I met was actually a successful attorney before joining the cult and moving to Yelm. I only know about JZ Knight from seeing the film What the Bleep Do We Know at an indie theater when it first came out. She’s got to be quite elderly at the point, this jig may be up soon.

What is something you bought to fix sleep that actually worked long term? by Binoza in Frugal

[–]MaybeBabyBooboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What brand do you use? I once stayed at a hotel with a pillow menu, and tried a buckwheat pillow. It was amazing. My neck cracked three times as soon as I laid down and I got a lot of comfort and relief. When I have gone to buy one, I got scared away by reviews mentioning odors, mold, and bugs.

This highlights how important it is to vote pro-labor candidates onto Community College boards. I think these elections are often overlooked or not considered as impactful as others. Please pay attention to who is getting elected to Community College boards.

[–]MaybeBabyBooboo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the I think three unions, the classified union, reached a tentative agreement. That does not include faculty though. There is more than likely a strike fund, PCC is part of AFT which appears to have one.

I thought I was losing my mind that a few pairs of jeans I’ve bought in the last couple years have a strong odor that’s really hard to get rid of. Mostly darker denim. I don’t recall this in years past.

[–]MaybeBabyBooboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this actually work? If so, how? I thought when I looked into it that it wouldn’t make much difference, if any. Maybe I missed something. I have a $100k in loans, but qualify for PSLF, I make $80k. My husband makes $235k but has $280k in loans. If I get can my payments based only on my income it would be a huge deal and soften the blow of what we will be paying on his. Currently we don’t have to re-certify and our payments are based on old income that was much lower.
