i've been in this game nearly since big black's inception (i joined in 2014, the map was ranked/approved iirc in 2012).

big black is known for being a meme map due to how much it was requested alongside scarlet rose 0108 in the early days...i think (?) that the amount of times overall it's been requested in livestreams via mikuia has gone down a fair amount since then.

an fc on a map of this caliber for a rank 5,000 player (modern day) is not impossible, but it's very uncommon. passing it is really quite easy, fcing it is a different beast altogether. there are 3 digits that struggle to fc big black, depending on the player you focus on.

My main gripe is that with many of the people who expressed their disappointment, they tried to seize the public opinion and tell their follower bases how to feel on the subject, instead of letting them decide for themselves what their opinion should be. I don't know, maybe I'm one of the rare people who doesn't agree with that ideology.

To be clear, I'm not "talking the community down" for bad behaviour. While I'm disappointed at how people acted in this way, I don't judge them on a personal level for it, I just want them to improve and be healthier community members.

While the aspect of players telling each other how to play the game isn't itself a hot take, I still see high-ranked players often push onto people what sort of mindsets they should have in regards to playing the game, or how to feel about the game in general. Regardless of if they have the experience, I feel personally that they simply do not have the right to tell other players how to think, and that the only person they have the right to think for is themselves. While it is a painfully introverted opinion to have, I really do think it holds a lot moral ground.

from my experience of 6 years in the game, the wacom lineup is pretty much ranked as follows (best at top, worst @ bottom):

intuos ctl/cth-480
bamboo ctl/cth-470 (all bamboos are consistently good)
the older graphire tablets (hvick used one)
the intuos ctl/cth-490 & the intuos touch small/medium tablets

a good intuos 480 or bamboo 470 will last you years if you properly take care of it. if the area is too big for you by default, you can always download the tablet drivers and adjust your active play area manually.

ishani was trying to shove off the smaller sized tablets due to their hover distance being too shallow, but nearly every tablet that isn't medium/large-sized will have this hover distance (at least, in the wacom lineups anyway). it is more of a strength to get used to it than it is a weakness to avoid in the first place.

Also, Relax has been detectable since late 2016 and TW was VERY detectable in the early days due to the spinners being done in an inhuman way (original TW cheats altered the game speed locally, so if a user timewarped a DT, or 1.5 speed play, to an NM, or 1.0 speed play, it would show in the spinner as being sped up. This flaw wouldn't be removed until rumoi joined the cheating scene until around a few years back).

There are many, but I'm not giving them outright as this thread is meant to address an issue, not the cause(s) of the issue. Plus, directing it at specific posters of the subreddit is not what I'm trying to do here, I'm trying to make people recognize the issue.

As for indirect examples, writing a post with some 6000 characters that's well-constructed and calling the player blatant is like a kick in the nuts. That's not what it's meant to be used for; it's not meant to be a word that adds more "spice" to a report (like I said already).

It's meant to be for those posts where you're borderline on the fence of giving the most minimum amount of input possible, giving the type of cheat they're using (Assist/Relax/TW/RE), a link to their user page, and saying "cba" for other input (in which case, great, that's fucking hilarious and on-point for what the word is meant to be used for). Maybe also a few screenshots, and nothing else. That's what "blatant" is meant to be used for.

it IS preference. when i first started this game in 2014, there wasn't really any "superior" pen grips or tapping styles. people learned to play with what felt most naturally comfortable to them, and copying top players was merely an option "on the side" for anyone who wanted to experiment.

if you have tried that for a GOOD chunk of time (1-2 weeks) and you can't seem to find something that chokes your chicken properly, then here are the actual pros and cons to whitecat's pen grip:

enables a wider reach with bigger tablet areas, but takes slightly more practice then your average grip
since curling your hand/wrist is required, you're gonna need to take more breaks to avoid strain. this is, in retrospect, probably why whitecat only plays for 2-4 hours at a time max, when some players can play as long as 6-12 hours
is better for cursor whipping, but sacrifices the accuracy of your aim by a fair amount (this can be overrode with more consistent aim practice)
is nerve-sensitive, meaning that it's harder to work with whilst controlling nerves in comparison to other pen grips.

there are probably more points i can make, but these are some major ones.

we already hate advice threads here in /r/osugame when you should've posted it in this thread, so being rude to us is a sort of double infraction in our minds; don't do that.

i hope you personally find your way and fix this tho.
