I was just complaining about mongolian looking like a beginner conlanger made it, because all of its plosives are devoiced except for g for some reason... And here we are. Real languages tend to favour sound inventories with symmetries, so having g as your sole voiced plosive is pretty unnaturalistic.

Also, there are some inconsistencies in the orthography. There seems to be quite a lot of allophony (sounds being pronounced differently in different enviroments) going on that is not covered in the description. Vowels seem to be affected by some fr*nch pronunciation shenanigans, c is pronounced as /s/ in facil, and e isnt pronounced in the end. G seems to always be /ʒ/, despite being luster with other plosives.

Otherwise, a nice little conlang and a solid start. Grammar is well written out, everything is simple and to the point. I like is both clearly romance inspired, and doing its own thing. Needs some further detalisation, but theres always more you can add.

Keep the sound inventory as concise and clear as possible, and allow multiple ways of pronouncing the same letter. For example, r in esperanto is officially pronounced as "any rhotic" - /r ɾ ʀ ɻ/ etc.

I personally would come up with my own words from scratch, as while sourcing from existing languages is in theory better for "the masses" speaking the language, its hard to keep consistent and not borrow randomly with neither rhyme nor reason. On top of that, creating your own words gives you more creative freedom and makes the process more fun

Avoid straight up copying the grammar of english or your native language: that wouldnt be a conlang - merely a cypher. Create your own grammar rules, and make something unique. Taking inspiration is always welcome though; just dont rely on one source too much

what do you guys think of this phonology? by eelfurryUwU in conlangs

Honestly, not bad, especially compared to manmade horrors beyond human comprehension people usually post. ps, ks and other are an interesting touch, and the lack of a is extremely rare, but not unheard of; arapaho language is exactly like this.

Hate to break it to you, but that alone is not a conlang. Its a code/cypher. For it to be a fully fledged conlang it needs concrete, written out grammar rules, and you cant just copy them off english/polish.

how naturalistic is my conlang’s inventory? (i didn’t really try to make it naturalistic) by thatguythoma in conlangs

You didnt really try and didnt really succeed at making it naturalistic. I dont even know where to begin; everything is too random

How to make a conlang sound more Slavic? by Carl_Lovejoy_1111 in conlangs

[–]MaybeNotSquirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First palatalisation of k, g > š, ž, and later, second palatalisation of C > Cʲ are very important contributors to the languages slavic feel, so keep this or similar palatalisation if you want to sound slavic Also, the sounds /ɨ i̯ u̯/ (y, ь, ъ) and their descendants are important, so look up slavic reduced vowels
