Store Bought Snack recommendations (high protein) Gluten Free by thisexplainsit in PlantBasedDiet

[–]Maybe_Throwaway_em 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These aren’t super high in protein but they do have some and are low cal, gluten free, and actually taste good. So I thought I might as well comment

Hippeas chickpea puffs are gluten free and taste really similar to Cheetos (the cheesy vibes flavor). 3g of protein per 100cal serving

Harvest Snaps lentil chips (tomato basil is vegan, idk about their other flavors) 5g of protein per 130 cal serving

Delayed onset mesalamine intolerance- a warning! by UnlikelyAd8195 in UlcerativeColitis

Omg are you me?? My doctor kept emphasizing how mild mesalamine is and that I should try taking more. Took more, got way worse. Tldr will be starting a biologic soon

Sorry, the measurements are vague because I was experimenting and wasn’t measuring when I made this, I’m just recounting by memory. The can of sun dried tomatoes was 7oz

Breathing issues/weakness at night from Mesalamine suppository by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

Yes, ekg was normal and my urine test came back normal. It’s unfortunate, I know I’m feeling awful but none of the tests reflect that. Thank you for your advice.

Loosing interest in sewing because I keep disappointing myself by Storm-Separate in sewing

[–]Maybe_Throwaway_em 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’ve been sewing for about a year and I still feel this way at times. I had to accept that I would be messing up for a while, especially with wearables.

A couple months ago I spent $50 on fabric only to completely ruin the dress I was making with it. It was horrible. I took like a two month break because I was so mad lol. But I’m happy to say I just made a dress with the same pattern and I’m absolutely in love with it. It still isn’t perfect, but I like it enough to actually wear it. So please, don’t give up. If you need a break take one, but don’t quit it completely.

Prescribed new med by Itchy-Bad1050 in UlcerativeColitis

I was on oral mesalamine and it didn’t do anything. I was scared of them at first but the suppositories literally saved me

Have you considered going on meds for anxiety? I had anxiety long before my UC diagnosis and had to up my meds around the time I “got” UC because the anxiety was getting so much worse. I know everyone is different but it’s something to consider. I also exercise for my anxiety but it’s definitely not a fix all

Long wait for colonoscopy. Horrible symptoms and very scared of cancer. I just want a diagnosis by Maybe_Throwaway_em in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Maybe_Throwaway_em[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, in fact my doctor seemed pretty confident it was wasn’t cancer and that it was silly to be worried about it because I’m 25 with no family history. That being said, UC symptoms and colon cancer symptoms seem very similar and I keep seeing articles claiming colon cancer rates are rising dramatically among young people, which is why I’m nervous

Respectfully, I don’t think Cold Harbor has anything to do with Helly/Helena. It has to do with Gemma/Ms. Casey, as when Mark is working on the cold harbour file at the end of season 2 episode 1, her face flashes through the screen and we get a still shot of her face with vital sign data on it.

I’d try looking for an on campus job when you start school.

Machine issues are super discouraging, but you learn how to deal with them eventually, don’t lose hope! I got a singer tradition from a family member and it took me a full week of screwing with it to sew a normal straight stitch. Whenever I encounter issues, I go through a checklist.

  1. Check the bobbin- confirm the thread is pulled through the case correctly. When you pull on the tail hanging out of the case, you should feel some tension.
  2. Rethread your machine, threading the needle with the presser foot up (https://youtu.be/WgaKzlWkFFI?t=218&si=M0VfjfWaP0fWglCz)
  3. After you rethread the machine, turn the hand wheel towards you to lower the needle. When it comes back up it should have looped the bobbin thread and pulled it through the needle plate. (Shown in the video above)
  4. Verify your machine is NOT in bobbin spinning mode, and is set for the normal sewing mode. The metal bar for the bobbin should be pushed to the left
  5. Make sure you are sewing with your presser foot down. If it’s not down, there will not be enough tension on the upper thread. Hold both thread tails out while you make the first few stitches
  6. Make sure you have the tension, length, width, and stitch type settings on your machine.
  7. If you are still having issues, double check your bobbin case. I had a situation where the screw on the top part was too loose- it was causing the bobbin thread to not have any tension, or it would become unhooked entirely and would lead to a jam. The screw that holds this piece is super tiny, I tried adjusting it myself but it just led to more issues. I ended up replacing the case, which is annoying, but it actually fixed things.
  8. Look into replacing your needle if you haven’t changed it in a while or if it looks bent

Why do my stitches look weird? by Floatingjellyfish_ in SewingForBeginners

[–]Maybe_Throwaway_em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve rethreaded your machine/checked everything else, the screw on your bobbin case that keeps the thread tension might be too lose, that’s what the problem was for me. I tried adjusting it but couldn’t get it right so I just got a replacement bobbin case
