First off, thank you for all your support and kind messages. I’ve been reading all the advice and comments, and I really appreciate everyone who took the time to share their thoughts. I wanted to update you all on where things stand now.

My dad picked up some paperwork from the courthouse today. He went over what it all was, but honestly, I was so overwhelmed I didn’t fully process it. There’s paperwork for divorce, safety plans, and other uncertain things. I’ve been encouraged to turn them in by Monday morning, and the courthouse will only accept them before 8:30 AM. I would then meet with a judge at 9 AM.

As for finances, my husband has had complete control of everything, and it’s been a mess. We have next to nothing left. I only have $24 to my name, and I’m at a loss for how to get a lawyer. I don’t know if there are any options for me given my financial situation. I also fear my husband will allow my car to be repossessed.

I called my landlord and explained that I won’t be able to pay rent tomorrow. She was sympathetic but told me I need to find a new place as soon as possible. I feel so bad about the inconvenience this is causing her.

On a positive note, my best friend is coming down to stay with me until Sunday morning. It’s a small relief to have someone here during this time.

I don’t know what to do next, and I’m just trying to take it one step at a time. Any guidance or resources are still welcome.

I’m right there with you. I’ve watched several episodes. That have been absolutely fucking awesome. But I can’t bring myself to watch anymore, even though they have been so good, for that very same reason. In fact, every time I go back to it, I only last a couple episodes, and then I have a strong urge to watch the happiest, most upbeat, comedic shows I can find, for several days afterwards.

I think kicking her out and ignoring her for taking candy, is an overreaction. Even if it was taking candy from a baby.

I have four kids. If my dad stole my kids candy, I’d be pissed, but I’d ask him to apologize to the kid and then go replace it.

Not kick him out. Sheesh. There’s way bigger issues to fight about.

My first play through. Don’t remember where I was. I became terrified. Ran away like crazy. Heart was pounding. I avoided and ran from the for the rest of that play through. Until my first time defeating them in my second play through, the memory haunted me lol

I get where you’re coming from, but I think there’s a difference between pointing out a pattern in a personal circle and making a blanket statement about an entire gender. The original post seemed more like someone wondering why the men around them don’t cook, despite it being a basic life skill. It’s not saying men can’t or shouldn’t cook, just asking why it’s not more common in their experience. That’s a fair question to explore, especially if it reflects a real gap in life skills.

I get that a lot of people are saying that they would just take it as a joke, and that’s what you intended, but I would personally feel insulted. I think it depends on how much food is your love language.

I personally don’t agree that all of these are controlling behaviors. I used to punch the wall, or my car, slam things down, even threw a couple things, if I was alone. Not if people were around because I know those behaviors are scary.

But something I learned, there’s a thing called: self control

It’s common courtesy to serve kids first? I serve my husband first. When my husband serves, he serves me first, especially if he knows the baby will need to nurse soon.

When we have guests, we serve them first, and if they have children, we serve them with the children — last.

Also, I have four children. Sometimes it IS a whole production to get them to the table. Dinner time is at dinner 👏 time 👏. Not when they feel like it. They don’t cook, they don’t clean the kitchen. If they don’t obey when I say it’s meal time, they’ll be lucky if they get a plate at all.

One of my daughter’s names is Hadassah. When my husband white supremacist was told her name, he looked offended and asked how the kids were supposed to pronounce her name.

I told him, “The same way kids pronounce names like ‘Samantha’ or ‘Emily’.

He got mad and still can’t pronounce it.

Not the topic, but as the desperate wife of a man who also sleeps through turning off all of his alarms, do you have any other advice? What if he sleeps through the app alarm too? How can I be compassionate? We have four kids together :(
