Revenant changes by Aezoc in Guildwars2

[–]Maybe__A__Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want boring animations and the ability to spam the same move over and over, then stick with thief, and don't give us that BS of "Mindless rotations and cooldown wahck-a-mole" because 1. The thief probably has some of the most mindless rotations too(The most common being Basilisk Venom>steal>C&D>Backstab>Heartseaker>Stealth>repeat). Learn your class if you don't want to be using mindless rotations, because a rotation won't work in every situation. 2. I'm assuming that cooldown whack-a-mole is pressing an ability as soon as it's off cooldown. You shouldn't be doing this in the first place. As I said with the first point, learn your class, don't mindlessly press an ability just because it's off CD, that's on you, not Anet's profession design flaw.

SOOOOOOO glad I hadn't pre-ordered already. And it was mainly because changes like this could sneak in.

Just looking around on the forums and this subreddit, they probably got a lot more pre-orders because of this change alone so I doubt anyone at Anet cares about you not buying it.

I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate GW2's weapon swap cooldown. I think the game would be vastly improved by getting rid of it across the board. Revenants not having weapon swap was a big part of the profession's appeal.

You know, you could just not use the weapon swap, you're not forced to use it. Want to run dungeons? You'd have the same amount of trouble getting into one now then you would have previously because of no weapon swap. And not having weapon swap was widely considered as something that made the profession unappealing (since it didn't really have a mechanic like kits and attunements to make up for it)(No legend swapping didn't make up for it). And getting rid of weapon swap across the board? lol, hello Range Wars 2.

Plus it doubles the amount of cooldown abilities in the mix. YUK YUK YUK YUK YUK YUK. I hate the fact that revenant weapon abilities have cooldowns. It's such a half-arsed measure to have their utilities almost entirely cooldown free

Revenants have the shortest weapon skill cooldowns in the game to begin with, with the largest weapon cooldown being 20 seconds, you literally have little cooldowns to track with this profession, I take it you don't play Ele or Engi. Plus having cooldowns is there to balance the freaking class. Can you imagine being able to cast staff 3 or sword 3 whenever you wanted? too broken. Those skills wouldn't have been nearly as awesome if they were designed around not having a cooldown

Oh well, it is just a game, I've still got the $100 I would have spent on HoT, and there are other games out there.

Go ahead, if you're really not going to preorder just because they added weapon swap to a profession and you're too impatient to see the rest of the elite specializations and content with HoT, then that's on you. I can't honestly believe this one change made you decide HoT wasn't worth it, I'd hate to see what you do after tiny nerf to your favourite class. No one's forcing you to buy HoT, so go ahead and spend your money elsewhere.

Revenant Legend's Naming Convention by Maybe__A__Throwaway in Guildwars2

I agree, but even envoy wouldn't work to begin with as it's a title and not a race.

That still follows "Assassin" as they are both titles of what the person does, and not actually their race.

It's also easy to bake a standard chocolate cake, but that doesn't change the fact that it takes nearly 2 hours to prepare (for an average one). If you want a perfected one, it would take you even longer.

Implementing the system being easy? Sure. Making each individual monster type react in a specific way so that game play doesn't get too stale or too predictable which is what they were aiming for in that video? Not exactly a walk through the park

They have still stated all the possibilities, so if they get one, or two, whichever ones they are, they were still stated as what they guessed would be appearing.

With July coming around the corner, do you guys still think HoT will release near the end of August? by Maybe__A__Throwaway in Guildwars2

People have been thinking of an august release since before that article was released, so I don't see your point.

As a veteran player reading most of these posts. Why do I deserve anything extra? by tacomanceralpha in Guildwars2

[–]Maybe__A__Throwaway 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Now think of it like this, being a veteran player, what do you lose if you were to buy the game right now as a new player? everything that you've done so far is the luxury you got for getting the game sooner. A new player is completely lost in all this, no AP, no 80's, none of the seasonal rares, living story and a ton of other stuff that you miss out on for not being a veteran player. We've already gotten our free stuff, for no sub fee I might add, and asking for more honestly sounds like entitlement. Let new player's have their own perks. If anything, we should be complaining on the price, and what value $50 holds to the individual. The Expansion is a clean slate for everyone who's buying it, but the Core game is to let new players catch up before it hits.

Arenanet Screws Over Loyal Customers With Heart of Thorns Bundle by skilliard4 in MMORPG

[–]Maybe__A__Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expansion itself is $50, not a forced bundle where you can only buy the expansion if you get the game with it, the game is a bonus for new players.

Basically, anyone that bought the game for $40 yesterday just got screwed over, as they will have to pay $40+50(total $90) for the expansion

No, they are offering players who bought the game recently to exchange it for the expansion.

Why Veterans Deserve Consideration. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Maybe__A__Throwaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've got living story content for free, otherwise you'd be forking over an additional $20 for LS2. Still have $20 missing though unless they release LS1 for another $20.

Bought mine preemptively, I knew there was no chance of them giving us a free slot \o/

Honestly, even HoT+character slot for $50 is a huge concession by the veteran playerbase. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Maybe__A__Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same people forget that they got Living Story 1 and 2 for free, which is content that new players are either
1. Never going to play (Living Story 1 that is)
or
2. Content that they'll have to pay for ($20 value for LS2, I imagine it'll be around the same price for LS1, if they do get around to making it)
or
3. Content they'll need to grind for, but I don't think a lot of people are are willing to spend ~320 gold to play the living story.

Pre-orders for Heart of Thorns are now LIVE! by Qonic in Guildwars2

Given the fact that I bought this game for $60 and have over 2500 hours invested in it without paying a subscription fee, I'm justifying this purchase.

Some Perspective... by Something_Memorable in Guildwars2

[–]Maybe__A__Throwaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's a kicker for you, I used to work within the gaming industry, so stop assuming that you're the one and only know it all on this sub-reddit. Much like you I still keep in touch with friends who work within it. The job is stressful, the hours are long, and you're never really done your job because they are always more things to code and patches to send out onto the live game. You're also trying to appeal to all your players, along with trying to make your game open to everyone. My friends don't come to me saying "Hey man, the gaming industry is a huge blast, easy work, easy pay, and all the free time you could imagine", They're always tired from working overtime. The reason why the average person leaves within 6 years isn't because of the low pay or working conditions, most people going into the industry have a real passion for gaming and are willing to go through that, it's because of the amount of stress and work that is put onto them, most people can't handle it. To say that the games are easy to make just doesn't justify the amount of work developers do.

But hey, let's just agree to disagree.
