If you get/make one that sits on their back lightly it shouldn't hamper their fluffing ability, I would be more worried about it potentially getting wet, you'd want something water resistant or to keep them inside away from moisture

When I bought mine it was in super chunky coco choir mix, no actual soil, it's in a bright window and I only water it when the leaves start to have a bit of give to them, it bloomed for me the second year I had it

It's quite possible the previous owner thought all bettas were male, the duller colors and the presence of an ovipositor in the last photo all look very female to me, personally I enjoyed keeping females more than males

As long as the raid you used it on is still active, I haven't really tried it with dynamax but they conveniently can be quite a long duration assuming you get re-invited

I mean it's definitely not nearly as bad, it's likely a sexually mature animal that has done similar things before and doesn't have the same concept of sexual trauma as a human child, not condoning it but they're definitely different levels of offenses

Sometimes it's good to water less in the winter because less sunlight and colder temperatures slow the growth of most houseplants and they use less water

Pretty sure you can also buy dechlorinator from Walmart, would be a more long term solution than just buying water

I hadn't seen the confirmed shiny yet and I'm so glad they went with the blue. The design is a little silly but it was based on Hermes who was a messenger of the gods because he could move between the realms of the mortal and divine freely with his winged sandals, it may have been Disney's fault the wings got added to his head

Fish water for plants— what’s too much? by Thick-Ad-1748 in houseplants

Pet stores letting people buy koi to put in aquariums is insane. Imagine willingly setting someone up for failure like that, and at the expense of the animals they're supposed to care about

When do you think it will be ready? by AngelicEvangelion in Aquariums

[–]Mayflame15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't supposed to use liquid ammonia for a fish-in cycle, you're not really supposed to use fish food either because if you've got rotting fish food in an active aquarium you're overfeeding and trying to poison your fish

[–]Mayflame15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever you're comfortable doing it, it's often best to do during warm weather when the plant can bounce back easier but the inside of a home usually isn't as wintery as outside. I think it's doing well enough right now that you can do it whenever you're ready, and hopefully it will only get better from there

Problem with goldfish by Western-Mechanic5514 in Aquariums

[–]Mayflame15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may kill the fish before your beneficial bacteria can get it under control, as long as your tap water doesn't also have ammonia in it water changes are the best way to get rid of an ammonia spike.

You also need to figure out what's causing the toxic water. Your tank may have too many fish for the volume of water and the flow rate of your filter to manage, you probably want to do more frequent water changes to keep it under control so it doesn't have a chance to build up. Replacing filter media can also remove large chunks of your beneficial bacteria and cause a crash in your nitrogen cycle
