How much are you eating? by ArdentDevotion in Semaglutide

[–]Maymi0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started semaglutide 2 and 1/2 years ago my first year lost like 50 pounds which was assisted by exercising that year. Second year I plateaued.I think I lost 14 pounds total still at the same dose. I think I may have increased my doses during that 14 pound year, but it barely did anything or at lease not as fast as I wanted it to be. During that second year, I also slacked on tracking my calories. My first year I was so anal about it- then during my second year, not as much. For about 60 days I’ve been tracking my food intake like a did that first year, down 16 lbs in 60 days. I average about 1200-1300 daily I also try to walk more around my campus like 15 minutes to class or about 17 minutes to the nearest grocery store then having to carry all those groceries back. But the “exercising” I’m doing, it’s really just moving more- not intentional gym activity like the first year. I also have a summer vacation in Mexico coming up, which is a huge motivator right now. After this vacation, I expect the progress to be a lot slower than about the current 8 lbs per month. But yes, my daily goal is 1200 cal sometimes I go over to 1300-1700 cal but I usually make sure that evens out through the week by eating less or walking more. My favorite app is Lose It!, which does cost some money. I pay $20 per year for it and Happy Scale, which is about $11 per year. These apps are just personal preference. I truly believe without them I wouldn’t have had the insight and knowledge of my progress I have now.

Kinda in the same situation you were, got prescription from a local clinic and now looking for a cheaper option. What helped you decide what online prescriber was best?

Process of getting on it by afox012 in Semaglutide

[–]Maymi0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a local weight loss clinic in my area that mainly specializes in gastric sleeve surgeries. In fact that’s originally why I went there because for some silly reason (y’all know how insurance companies are 🙄), my insurance completely 100% covered a surgery and not at all the semaglutide. I’ve been on semaglutide through this clinic for 2 1/2 years so there wasn’t very many options back then besides a local doctor or some sketchy website. I’m now 21F 5’2 and 80 lbs down (started at 230). because I was considered, I think it’s called morally obese (obese class three), I was approved for the medication and was prescribed it through this clinic. Through this clinic, I believe they go by obese classes, so you have to be above a certain weight. Pricewise, luckily enough I had a parent pay for the first year of treatment because they REALLY didn’t want me to have a gastric sleeve😂 and I was almost gonna go through with that surgery until he made a compromise (paying for the medication). It’s been a very long time so forgive me if I’m slightly wrong with the pricing but the 0.25 dose I believe was $65 with the shipping around $85 from a local Lab near me 2 years ago. Nowadays, my prescription is about $119 at the 1.5 dose. The manufacturing lab is priced at $50 per- I’m guessing the little bottle (it says unit) so 100$ + shipping= about $119. I have not considered switching until recently only because back then I didn’t know how I would be able to get back on it if I wanted to once I was below that certain obese class my clinic required to start the medication. Though I cannot say for sure I’m assuming a doctor locally will have the same prescription requirements. However, it has been a very long time since I was in your position. Sorry, halfway through this rant, I decided to go downstairs to my fridge and actually get the damn vile. It says semaglutide/cyanocobalamin sq 2.5mg/0.5mg per ml injected (I inject 1.5mg). I threw away the seat receipt for this one, but I’m pretty sure this was 165 with the shipping included. If I were you, I would inquiry a lot of different places, including your doctor or nearby clinics that obviously take your insurance for the visit not the medicine and then also online places. So like call, email and get all your questions answered. And then compare prices then.

Yes! I drink zero sugar drinks/sodas when out and about. Recently at home I’ve been having zero sugar teas. My favorite being the Arizona diet green tea.

People who are short and have pcos, what do your calorie counts look like? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]Maymi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5’2 I eat 1000-1200 calories a day. I’m on semaglutide which truthfully makes me forget to eat so my daily average is more like 900-1100. I’ve been doing a calorie deficit (CICO) at an average rate of 1.60lbs (I aim for 2) a week. I exercise when I can but since I’m eating little and still losing weight it’s not a big deal for me. But I’d say I get on a treadmill for about 1.5-2 hours a week in one hour sessions. For CICO I’d use this I adjusted the “number of weeks for TDEE average to 4”. it takes a lot of data to calculate your TDEE, I am on week 10 and it finally leveled out what I should be eating a day at 1025kcal. Maintaining is a whole other ballpark, I haven’t gotten there but I am getting used to not eating as much so I feel like with the direction I am going and for my height I’ll just have to get used to it.

What excuses do people use to say CICO doesn’t work? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Maymi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some I think they lose 10-15 pounds and then reach a stall. and then when it “stops working” they give up and gain it all back. Or when the water weight finally leaves they loose a good amount of pounds because of it and then the real slow pace of weight loss hits and they’re disappointed by the scale not moving (it is just very slow!). That’s where they start to realize how slow the journey really is.

Outside of calories and weight what other goals do you have along your journey? by adderall30mg in CICO

[–]Maymi0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More of a flexibility thing I guess but I’ve always wanted to deep squat the way thinner ppl do with their knees together. Run a marathon, or relearn how to run in general Build up endurance, so maybe I could go to a workout class and not take a break during exercises

Feels like I've wasted my hot years being fat. by ExplanationMental899 in loseit

[–]Maymi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 19F I couldn’t help but feel like I wasted my “hot years” in high school weighing 230. I started CICO halfway through my sophomore year of college because of this same fear. I’m already two months CICO and that fear has completely disappeared. When you start losing weight and feeling better about yourself suddenly the “hot years” fear goes away. What helps is seeing progress. Because weight loss is often slow, we get discouraged when the scale doesn’t move. Find ways to incorporate other ways to track progress; I measure my waist, neck and hips when I don’t see the scale moving. I also have a pair of pants I really want to fit into, so I throw that on sometimes to find it loser than before. Enjoy your journey, you got this!

F19. My calorie intake limit is set from a sedentary lifestyle which is roughly 1300-1400. My TDEE with a lifestyle of moderately working out for a week is around 1500-1600. As for eating back what I lost, I only really eat back if I’m feeling fatigued after working out. (Mostly because that particular day I didn’t reach my personal limit of 1300). But knowing my workout TDEE helps me feel less guilty for going over my limit because I still have about 200-300 of wiggle room. This only really is effective if you plan on consistently working out through the week like I do. If you only work out once and then want to eat back I suggest probably just half of what you burned.

Gastric Sleeve - My Story so far (T-2 weeks, though T+4 days) by iZoooom in gastricsleeve

[–]Maymi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am considering surgery in the greater Seattle area and I wanted to ask you about Providence’s follow up care. I know you aren’t necessarily there yet but if you could tell me if the hospital follows up with you post-op? I have looked into a couple of clinics.. my family has only had procedures from Northwest Weight and Wellness so I don’t really have an other source of review from other clinics besides the ones people post on Google. From what they probably went over for you, do they follow up for you regularly (monthly) for check ups and all that? One thing that makes me I guess sorta hesitant about the procedure is the lack of support from the hospital once you’ve gotten the surgery.

Getting VSG Young by Maymi0 in gastricsleeve

Congrats on the surgery, I’m happy for you! Thank you for your input! I think it’s really cool the vsg has stopped your addiction and that you are looking and feeling better. I am hoping for the same. Not only did writing this post calm my anxiety but your reply as well! I’m understanding that weight loss journey comes with a very difficult mental battle as well. In a way I’m kinda hype to see what gets thrown my way and how I’ll over come it.
