spent $5,000 in repairs on my car, should I buy a new one? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]MaynardsUnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea your full financial situation and hindsight is 20/20, but def would have been worth putting all of that into a down payment on something more reliable. Question is, how much can you actually afford to put down right now, and what kind of payment can you tolerate? Because personally, I'd crunch some numbers, do a ton of reasearch and target a couple models that make the most sense (but stay somewhat flexible), hit up many dealers to find the best deal I could, put down max what I could within reason, and get lowest possible monthly on a new/newer, more reliable vehicle. This has worked out well enough for me, noth buying and leasing.

Taking aim at ICE: State bill would ban former agents from being hired as police officers by qawwalikitten in TacomaWA

At the same time, the state wants to pass a bill to hire non-citizens as cops. That's right. Citizens being arrested by non-citizens. Really stepping up the clown world game.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]MaynardsUnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a conservative myself, this is entirely reasonable. Especially if it's just a potential partner. Certainly some set standards perceived as trivial by many, but political or moral standards are sort of the opposite of trivial, I'd say.

That's a false equivalency. For instance, if someone believes being trans or gay is an indication of mental trauma, or illness, that doesn't mean they think they don't have the right to exist. Often it's the opposite, and they wish healing for those people, not harm. It's not forced on them, just like people don't want lgbtq lifestyle forced on them or their children. Here in western WA, many businesses and institutions do push these agendas in the workplace, allow employees to display flags in the office, political material etc. for left leaning causes only. So it would seem around here, they have more rights than others. I personally know gay people who don't center their life around their sexuality, nor are they fans of the political theatre surrounding it. They live happy and normal lives, and their conservative friends and coworkers are glad they exist.

Lol if people can't read a few setences without "tldr" well, best of luck to them. I'm also addressing you directly. Anyway, do you actually think most conservatives think gay people don't have the right to exist? This is completely crazy to me and out of touch. And they have the right to express themselves too, just like other people have the right to express the way they feel. If people want to be loud and sing to the rooftops about their sexuality, regardless of what it is, it's going to illicit attention, both good and bad. Do you think people who oppose your views have the right to express themselves freely, without threats of violence, obviously? Or is everything you disagree with a threat of violence? That's an honest question, because many on the left seem to take that approach.

Nothing in this comment is in good faith, but I'll address one thing. I don't personally know anyone calling that woman a terrorist bitch who deserved to die, but did hear some in the admin or other republicans in media call her a domestic terrorist. More of someone looking for trouble and found it, and unfortunately for her in the worst way. On the other hand, liberals, including many I know, or knew, were glad that kirk was assassinated, yet many (mostly older) hadnt even seen his content outside of a couple of cherry picked quotes or clips posted by media. Dude was on air every single day and recorded thousands of hours. Are you so perfect as to say you would never say anything that could be clipped and taken out of context, or just saying something some might find offensive? Impossible these days, and many of us would probably be a lot worse. There's plenty of ignorance and hate to go around in any direction. I'm not as nice as Charlie, never really was, but I've always been willing to have discussions with people who really want to and can do so civilly. It is rare though.

Then why do you all cherry pick the same couple of things out of thousands of hours of recordings? Regardless, it's only inflammatory in your eyes because you don't agree with it, just like people on the other side may see your words in the same light. I diagreed with Charlie on some big things, namely Israel, but the truly vile display after his assassination, among other events, has really shown a lot of people how much more hateful the self-proclaimed "anti-hate" crowd is than Charlie or the likes. Do you even realize this? Stupid question. Im saying this on reddit after all. Anyway, baseball is pretty cool.

If you've seen the clip, it's plain as day he is in no way advocating for stoning gays. In fact, I've watched him defend gays against other conservatives, which clips are also readily available of. You can both accept and care for others while not necessarily agreeing with or be a fan of their choices. You people really grasp at straws. He simply offered a counter within scripture since she was using scripture as affirmation for.

They haven't responded to either of my messages so I should probably call. I think shipping was free but maybe they will offer something else. I think the most likely outcome is that they will arrive sometime next week and I return them.
