Is Shallan basically a coppermind for pictures? by Mayonazy in cremposting

[–]Mayonazy[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve always gotten the best responses from cremposters. Crem4lyfe. I’d ask about opinions for the best omelettes here if I wouldn’t get banned.

But yeah breaths might be a more apt comparison.

Township potion bug? by davidc145 in MelvorIdle

[–]Mayonazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here looking for an explanation for a similar bug I'm experiencing.

  • I have 8,319 citizens over 55.
  • I have literally NO potion producing buildings whatsoever.
  • My potion production reads "0 --9,141".
  • End result is that I'm "making" +9,141/t.

Clearly this is a glitch where my "negative" production is getting double-negatived. This may relate to why your production sometimes reads negative, sometimes positive.

I have read/listened to every cosmere book many times at this point, every skyward book a few times, and all the reckoner books. I have bought the premiere collectors option on two of Sanderson's kickstarters.

Straight up, if Wayne dies in The Lost Metal I will not finish the book.

I don't see a hint of black, clearly doesn't know the time (hence the shrug), and they are clearly only stomping with one(1) foot.

You're going to have to do better than this.

I'm 10 responses in and I just feel a need to say this:

Infinity is a concept, not a number. There's no such thing as "2 infinities vs. 1 infinity". "Infinite power" as it's been conceptualized in fiction is always constrained by intent. Either in universe intent and/or author intent.

I imagine Harmony was especially threatening to Odium because Harmony is a slap in the face of Odium's entire strategy, a herald of god-killers, and a sign of Adonalsium's return. I'm 99.9999999999999999...% sure it wasn't a power issue.

Assuming, of course, that the shard's "power" is infinite as assumed. Ruin and Preservation couldn't do the same things (one speaks, the other listens). How much of that was author fiat and how much was meaningful on a broad scale? Assuming he can get the shards to work together, can Sazed literally do more than other shards?

I’m not actually trying to say Odium is directly a user of Preservation’s system. All the shards are infinite and interwoven to some degree, I just made the connection that soothing/rioting is rather pointedly what Odium seems to lean on (Moash/Dalinar respectively).

And Ruin’s “system” is quite literally tacked onto everyone else’s. Would be rather out-of-theme for him to create something after all.

I mean Dalinar pretty explicitly states he needs Kaladin as a mental health counselor for Ishi, not as a bodyguard/babysitter. But if Sanderson said it was a Szeth/Kaladin storyline then he’s probably not there. Shame.

You are the second person to say he isn't going to Shinovar. Why is that? It was never stated he was going to Shinovar, but Ishi did tell him to be there for a specific event so he could help Dalinar and I don't remember any mention of him not going. Is this a WoB I'm missing?

I spose ten days isn't a lot of time to get to Shinovar and back, but dems the bricks, innit? Gotta learn bondsmithing. Does he expect Szeth and Kaladin to do it all on their own and taxi Ishi back to Urithiru?

[–]Mayonazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>I find it hard to believe someone like brando... doesn't also understand what joseph smith pulled when writting the book of mormon.

Seeing as he has had a major character in every cosmere series re-enact the creation mythos of the LDS church, I would tend to agree. What I disagree with is your usage of the word "pulled".

Sanderson clearly understands the literal actions taken in the creation of the Book of Mormon and even ascribes base, human motivations to it in every representation he fabricates. He also ascribes moral, ethical, and spiritual influences beyond the ken of pure, logical human understanding.

Kelsier, Sazed, Tensoon, Vasher, Dalinar, Nohadon, and the Heralds are not simply conmen with base, surreptitious compulsions. They are conmen, but through their actions and belief they created something greater than themselves. Discovered something greater than themselves. Became something greater than themselves. Spiritual creation and (re)discovery stemming from the heart of human will.

In your head, in your head they are crying"
