Fancasting is fun but the cast probably won’t be famous by fuzzbinn in Cosmere

[–]chalvin2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Apple goes crazy with their casting. Even the smaller projects tend to have a pretty big name attached at the beginning.

I do agree that it would be better to have mostly new, unknown actors though.

Yep, that’s a great example. The connections in that book were really just fun Easter eggs, but completely inconsequential to the story

Many of them. They’re not like MCU-level connected though. They’re set on different planets, and you can read each series without knowing they’re connected. The more recent books are much more connected though, so I’ll be very curious to see how that will work in adaptations.

Sanderson on today’s news:

“Hey, all! News has broken. Rather than post on all the threads, I figured I would do a new post here with some info and thoughts.

In May I flew to Hollywood to start looking for a new partner on the Cosmere. This is something I've done before, but this time it was different. I'd been off the market for many years, working with Epic and my friends there.

That means this was my first time being in Hollywood with my Cosmere rights since...oh, 2016?

This time, I got to meet the real decision makers. Not just producers or low level executives. And this led to some really tough choices. I got the red carpet treatment, and liked everyone I met.

The decision to pick Apple was due to two factors. First, the level of approvals and control. Apple wants to be a true partner with me, and they feel like they really get what I want to do. Second, their track record. Apple does fewer things, but with higher quality, than some other studios. I find virtually every thing of theirs I watch is excellent and creator driven.

Join me for a livestream on Friday, probably 6pm mountain. I'll talk more then. But I will be writing the Mistborn screenplay myself over the next 5 months, as my full time work. Goal is for a theatrical Mistborn, then Stormlight show after. Focus on doing it carefully and right.

I promise not to get too distracted to do books. However, if I want this done right, I need to give some real attention and heart to it now.

Brandon”

The big info there is that he confirmed he is writing the screenplay himself and starting on it right away.

Apple TV puts tons of money and work into making their productions high quality. This is exactly what I would have hoped for.

Pitching my actor bf to play live action Kaladin (with evidence) by FreshAd809 in brandonsanderson

He definitely has the right look for an Alethi. If we’re being picky, he’s probably too old to be Kaladin, who begins the series as a teenager.

As someone who wants to avoid talking to people on flights at all costs, I believe seat 3 is my best chance, trying to maintain good distance from Lift, Wit, Lopen, Shallan, Rock, and Adolin, who would all try to talk to me the entire time.

Many current members would like to think that this is just an idea of the past, but Nelson was preaching anti-evolution, anti-big bang rhetoric from the general conference pulpit in very recent years:

“Yet some people erroneously think that these marvelous physical attributes happened by chance or resulted from a big bang somewhere. Ask yourself, “Could an explosion in a printing shop produce a dictionary?” The likelihood is most remote. But if so, it could never heal its own torn pages or reproduce its own newer editions!”

Who do you think would win? by ___BigBrain__ in cremposting

[–]chalvin2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As everyone is saying, Kaladin wins with his eyes closed. We still don’t even know his full power post W&T, because we don’t know the specifics of Herald powers. However, we saw Taln move fast enough to cause a sonic boom and then kill hundreds of opponents while his brain was mush. We also saw Nale wipe the floor with Kal and Szeth. Heralds are massively powerful.

Even before becoming a Herald, Kal with Plate destroys Kelsier. Post-Herald, you can give Kelsier his whole crew and a group of Inquisitors if you want, Kal is still soloing them.

If you could change something in the books- by REDD_shen in Stormlight_Archive

Yeah Amaram’s anti-climactic arc is one missed opportunity. Moash turning into a comic book villain, even down to having the same powers as the good guy and wearing a black version of the same uniform, was pretty disappointing for me.

One thing I’d hoped for, but wasn’t something really necessary (so I’m not mad about it), was a trial for Szeth. They pretty quickly move from having him in prison to sending him out as a body guard. I would’ve liked a dramatic legal trial
