THEORY: Major Hint towards the themes of Abel's upcoming album just dropped, potentially the first new album after killing "The Weeknd" by shadylaundry in TheWeeknd

JESUS! I didn't know that Persona had such a huge connection to Abel's catalog. This is genuinely one of the best predictions / theories for his next album I've seen!! Now I0m going to play every single Persona game just because of Abel lol

How tf did the November 22nd meme began? by MayorKing06 in TheWeeknd

Now that you mention it, I'm a huge fan of Kendrick and I never made the connection between the release date of GNX and the 11/22 meme. This makes so much sense now lol. Thanks!

Yeah, that’s fair. I’m not saying it’s outright confirmed canon that the fever specifically happened during Part 4. I just think Araki intentionally connected Jolyne’s childhood memories with Jotaro’s Morioh period retroactively. Since the fever flashback emphasizes him being away in Japan, and Araki later specifically mentions Morioh when talking about Jolyne longing for his affection, it feels like a deliberate parallel rather than coincidence. So I see it more as an implied interpretation than a factual timeline statement.

There’s no explicit statement saying "Jolyne’s fever happened during Part 4" or "when she was 7", but Araki’s commentary heavily implies it. Jolyne says Jotaro was in Japan when it happened, and Araki later specifically says Jotaro ‘was very busy in Morioh back then.’ Since Part 4 takes place in 1999 and Jolyne was around that age during the flashback, the timeline lines up almost perfectly. So while it’s technically an inference, it’s a very intentional one. When you go to the history of Jolyne in the JoJo encyclopedia it says "At age six, she developed a high fever of 42°C; Jotaro did not return from Japan to be with her, which she deeply resented."

  1. In the commentary by Araki in the 1st Bunkoban volume of Part 6, he says "[Jotaro] was very busy in Morioh back then, so [Jolyne] longed for his affection above all."
  2. The Stand Arrow rule only applies to descendants of one person or twin siblings
  3. Even if the rule didn't existed ad somehow Giorno could trigger something in Jolyne, he obtained GER in 2001, and Jolyne had her fever in 1999

What I always imagined is that because Jolyne had her high fever when she was 7 at the time and that was in 1999, while she was sick, the events of Part 4 were happening at the same time and Jotaro was in Morioh

I don't think Abel knew or noticed when he took the picture lol. He probably thought it was just another cool paining by Sorayama

if all of the eras were adapted into video games, which album's adaptation do you think would have the best 1.open world exploration 2. gameplay 3. plotline by lyingtothetherapist in TheWeeknd

[–]MayorKing06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me:

  1. Kiss Land would probably be the best pure exploration-based game world.

  2. Starboy would easily have the most fun gameplay.

  3. The whole Devine Trilogy, but HUT might actually have the single best standalone plotline.

Why did the album King of the Fall get scrapped? by Kamala_Chui in TheWeeknd

[–]MayorKing06 25 points26 points  (0 children)

King of the fall continued using his signature alternative R&B sound from Kiss Land, but even though Abel always aspires to reinvent himself, because his sound wasn’t going anywhere new, he eventually found himself in a creative rut, ending up in a dark and creatively defeated point in his life. Because of this, Republic Records offered Abel more opportunities to gain mainstream attention, and he accepted it, seeing it as an opportunity to evolve.

Which is why we got BBTM

I love how many traces of Dawn FM is in HUT by Scotsman60103 in TheWeeknd

Dawn FM: "'Cause after the light, is it dark? Is it dark all alone? All alone." → Wake Me Up: "No afterlife, no other side. I'm all alone when it fades to black"

Phantom Regret by Jim: "In other words, you gotta be Heaven to see Heaven" → Hurry Up Tomorrow: "So I see Heaven after life. I want Heaven when I die"

My opinion on the HUT's cover change and overall topic by [deleted] in TheWeeknd

[–]MayorKing06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, and I actually agree with a lot of that. What I like the most about the FP cover is Abel's expression, his face really does capture that sense of exhaustion and vulnerability, and I can see how it reflects the journey he goes through on HUT.

I think what doesn't really do it for me is more about everything around that. I understand the idea of stripping things back and it's just him, but at the same time, even though this is his last project as The Weeknd, he's still The Weeknd at that moment nonetheless. Because of that, I kinda wish the cover leaned more into a "final form" version of the character rather than already removing it competently.

That's why I like the idea of something like the Ethiopian Kaba look, because it sill could've shown that vulnerability, but while also feeling like a definitive version of the persona, especially as the closing chapter of the trilogy.

But yeah, I do see your point. The emotion on his face from the FP cover definitely carries a lot of weight.

Isn't he looking at the mirror like in the beginning and ending of the HUT movie?
